Buy a Spyder or GT-4 with a manual now and get the PDK on the .2 GT3.

And BTW, I am first in the list at my dealer for a PDK 991.2 GT3...and all this stuff about getting bored with a PDK GT3 is absolute baloney. No way I am ever getting bored with ripping thru the gears in a PDK.
Did they say if it's going to have a 4L or 3.8 engine?

If NA motor, PDK. If turbo motor, manual, so I can work around any lag.

Porsche is money smart, they did not make 991 manual trannys and closed shop, that would be a big loss on R&D, they also grossly underestimated the demand for a manual in a GT4, I don't talk to cleaning ladies much, but I am certain the next GT3 will have a manual...not the RS

I was all about manual so when i placed order on my 911 50th anniversary i went with manual. I loved driving it and also got with the powerkit so i had 430 instead of 991 S that comes only 400

The thing is though it was not fast. The 1/4 mile was about 12.4-12.6 so i was disappointed that i spent almost 150k and my car was slow (to my standards). I ordered the 50 over a GT3 and when i got the chance to trade for a GT3 it was the hardest decision bec i was worried i would miss the manual.

Now that i have the Gt3 i don'r regret the trade one bit. Going from 12.4-.6 to 11.3 is a major difference and even if i can't shift with a clutch it still makes me grin every-time i drive it.

The question is if the GT3 .1 with 9000 redline had a manual would i like it more even if about .2-.3 slower than the PDK maybe but i guess we will never find out since that car was never built ... So either way you go i think a GT3 pdk or manual will make any owner happy

Don't get this the wrong way,but the only thing I don't get about your post is your interest in 1/4 mile time. I mean Porsches in general, even the Turbos are not really drag cars. An AMG sedan will probably do in the 10s and be a better car for that...

no offense taken at all but in all actuality the GT3 beats the AMG GTS, beats the Viper ACR, ZO6, New Shelby R and other cars that you would think are much faster than it in the 1/4 mile. Everyone underestimates the GT3 in 1/4 but if you look at the numbers 11.3 is pretty impressive for stock for any standards

I am not only about the 1/4 but 1/4 can also tell you a lot about the car's acceleration in general like if i'm doing 50 mph and want to stomp on it till 100 mph

My point is when my 50 was manual it was a hell of fun but did not feel fast enough, the GT3 does not lack that. It feels like a complete race car in comparison. Now, a GT3 in manual may put a bigger grin on my face but for someone who was always just about manual, i was over the moon when i switched. I was the guy who was always like "but why buy that car it does not come in manual" and after switching i don't have that philosophy anymore. i still love manuals but i respect the pdk on the GT3 now whereas before driving 1 i did not even consider it for a second

yes gt3 and 50 are completely different cars so i guess the comparison does not really make sense but hey motor trend and other magazine also make comparisons that don't make sense either so i figured why not

But it's the same on the track and in the mountains, PDK is faster than manual. So what's your point other than parroting the same old ''the 911 is not a drag car' blather?

His underlying point is still valid.

I haven't picked and probably won't b/c I don't really know. I would want to try a MT on the .2 before I give up something that's as great as the PDKS is. I'm happy about one thing, I don't have to make that decision right now.

Why did you just buy a 6 manual Spyder? Why didn't you buy the faster GT3 with PDK? There are plenty available for not much more than a new Spyder.

VW can buy back the new '14 VW Jetta Diesel (MT) that I bought for my kid daughter last year towards a manual GT2 or GT3 or GT3RS. Checkbook is ready.

Interesting statement. There is a certain duality to a high powered turbo car with a manual. As stated, you can work around the lag if you're proficient. The flip side is that you can also let the car fall slightly off boost and feel the turbo surge as you switch through each gear.
