I think but its my point of view, no gt3 rs limited edition and just the next gt3 next year and after for close the 991 range, the gt2 RS limited to 500...after that they introduce the 992. Porsche with the RSR need to go rapidly in turbo motor. The competion with Ferrari, mclaren is not easy...

point to move rapidly to 992 is
if they can t move forward 991 engine in time for 2018
only reason for GT3 RS mark2 to exist (from an evolution standpoint) depends on this summer tests
failing them still remain the commercial standpoint with low to zero evolution (higher profit)
GT3 or GT2 looks like one will be or the other
regardless the badge name...

For me, I want the GT2, GT2 RS, GT3 RS 4.2, because I'm obsessed with 911's. This addiction dates back to when I was 10, and I saw my first 2.7 RS.
The R didn't appeal to me much, but every GT car has, ever since. Even the unloved 996's.
PCNA and PAG know how many 911's I've purchased. If I get snubbed, because I didn't buy a couple 918's, that would sting badly, and I would strongly consider abandoning the brand (something that would be personally devastating given how far back my 911 addition goes).
Again, in retrospect, I should've bought the 918's simply for the allocations, and today, if I did, they'd be worth at least 50% more than what I paid for them. But, on principal, I couldn't bear buying cars I didn't want to drive.

As PAG is learning with the R (and that's 900+ cars!), I'm fairly confident (hopeful?) that they won't be 600 and 500 respectively.
That would be idiotic.
(The number of enthusiasts / collectors / die hard folks / rich folks has increased since the 997.2's. It doesn't make sense to keep the #'s the same.)

Just hope they make it so hardcore that some buyers will go, oh no!!!!!! Kind of what happened to the 996rs. Most thought it was cool but turned their back on it and bought a gt3.

Agree! Can't upset the 918vip owners either. No way a limited edition car will be less than 900. And why should it? As long as the economy is good I would say go for it. More cars means more fun.

The car is still quite exclusive if it's numbered with a limited run of 1500.
Heck, even the 50th Anniversary Edition, which isn't as in-demand as some of these other cars, was fairly exclusive with a run of 1963. Imagine a numbered run of 1900 for the GT2 RS or the GT3 RS 4.2? Still exclusive enough. You'll still find people trying to flip. Still find dealers trying to price gouge with $150k+ "market adjustments." Non-enthusiasts, loyalists, 918 VIP's, will still find it hard to get. But, the loyalists and 918 VIP's will still be satisfied, and will continue to promote the brand positively.
