Default Tried to fit GT3 RS front tires on GT3 - experiment failed

I'd seen a few posts implying this might be possible, and there are certainly folks running 265s in front with 19" wheels, but I wanted to let everybody know that 265s don't work on 20" wheels on a GT3. The tires fit, but unless you're willing to raise the car or run with massive camber, you will get rubbing when going over bumps or under heavy compression. Given that, I've got a set of nearly new MPSC2 265 fronts, heat cycled from tire rack, with < 50 miles. If any of you lucky RS owners want some discounted front tires, shoot me a PM.

Thanks for sharing your findings on this 265 size up front .

What about 325's for the rear ? If I recall no N spec in the 20"

I didn't try the 325s for a couple of reasons. First, I was trying to dial out the last bit of mid-corner understeer, so I wanted to give the front a bit more grip relative to the rear. With my Crawford wing, the back end has felt really good. I still might have been tempted, but as you mentioned, you can't get an N spec MPSC2 (or Trofeo) 325 in 20". I think my tire experiments are done until the 20" Hoosiers come out. Wishing I would have gone with 19s to begin with, but hard to justify a third set of wheels at this point.

Thanks for the feedback, rm21; you've done us a real service by posting your experience. Like you, I wouldn't want to disrupt the balance of the car by putting 325's on the back if I couldn't get wider rubber on the front too. I guess I'll stay with the OEM sizes when I replace my tires since I don't want to go back to the whole wheel swapping scenario. Good luck with finding a buyer for your 265's.

Thanks for the input. Hopefully you won't have to sit on the tires very long.

So how much kgs more of downforce do you get from your wing in mid corners that you can feel the rear is well sorted out? ))

Thanks for posting this! I literally had to cancel my order I had just placed to try the same thing. Not sure running around with the axle lift up at low speeds all the time sounded that appealing.

PM me the your price for the 265/35/20 MSC2s.
I have been running 265 for a good while on my TTS.
I am lowered 30 mm to GT3 height with H&R Springs and have had no issues.
But on the TTS with front wheel drive and different offsets the dimension are different.

Karl - you have your PM functionality turned off. Can you enable it and I'll try back later today.

rm21, Many thanks for the comments. You saved me some money LOL.
Like to get your comments on the Crawford Wing's effects, on understeer and the GT3's tendency to wag its tail on high speed threshold braking, if any. Did you find any changes were necessary to restore the Aerodynamic balance with the larger wing?
I've been surprised by the comments from some reviewers on the "oversteering"
tendency of the GT3RS. - exactly the opposite of what I would have expected with a larger wing - unless those RS Fender Louvres are producing far more front
downforce than expected.

GT3RS has no oversteer tendencies. Solid as can be.

GT3 is aerodynamically perfectly balanced and OEM rear wing is adjustable. Just brake a bit less aggressive and you won't see any tail wag.

If someone needs 2 new 265 Dunlops, I have them in south Florida but can ship anywhere lower 48.

Just been wearing rears faster then fronts. Dunlops seem to wear more even than the Michelins with similar performance.
