In that case, air flow isn't the limiting factor, it's the oxygen in the air flow. As was mentioned FI, not a freer flowing filter, is what's needed at altitude. Just my thought....
Yeah, that was what I was wondering about to. Not sure flowing more air is going to do anything, when it is H2O that is really missing. Good point Mike.

^ Ok it will be boring until next Frankfurt autoshow
but i can t spend my time on this intuitive info
Oem GT3 paper filters get dirty in a 2 or 3k miles and you
can t wash them
i just changed with BMC air filters and the 8 9k rpm
is improved
air flow is improved
and last not least paper filters
deteriorate faster in humid conditions

who cares of sound that s from exhaust or filters not homologated

150$ well spend without needing a dyno or whatever

Btw noone answered the question
Why motorsport and RS use BMC filters and not paper crap ones?

Plus OEM for many exotics.
Well said and saved 1 hour of readings

I put my well massaged 944 turbo on the dyno with and without a filter and it didn't make any difference. My old mind tells me there's no measurable power to be gained.

Your mind is not old Alan,it is young and accurate.

I am going to replace my air filters with the BMC to see. Reading various posts on other forums, and ran across a few people at altitude who said local mechanics recommended less restrictive air filters to improve mpg and hp. Several posters said the power difference was noticeable.

If possible I will get a before and after dyno to share. Just need to find the right shop.

I swapped to the BMC filter but only because i had the bumper off anyways installing gmg exhaust bypass, so figured i might as well. BMC seem high quality - though my OEM filters were not particularly dirty and i wouldn't describe them as clogged in anyway (~4500 miles on my car) - OP claims his were very dirty / clogged, which i find surprising. Curious if any others actually had dirty / clogged filters after relatively few miles.

In European high density populated town
you will find more dirty filters due always too many amount of diesel cars as around london frankfurt milan etc.

i guess 2-4k miles in traffic jam frequent conditions (my case)
and maybe 8k miles in cleaner environments
is a fair interval to change or clean (not the oem) air filters

but you have to factor humidity , salt and dust variables as well

I am having a BMC filter installed this week along with GMG exhaust and the Tech doing the work said the BMC filter will help the fuel burn more efficient and change the exhaust sound but would not not any HP. This sounds correct to me.
