Well if it's a Pcar dealership, expect a lot of RL business

Lol yeah right. 50-100 super dedicated customers? I'd take that any day of the week. I'm on RL all day anyway

I used to work at a Toyota store that only made about 2 grand per car. Then again we only sold about 500 cars per month! Heck, we used to make a quarter of a million dollars per month just on doc fees. So yeah, I would expect Porsche dealers to make significantly more per unit sold.

I am always told "we didn't make any money" after every car purchase. The BS never ends.

Sold chevy's when I was a kid. Some regular customers would bypass the salespeople and deal directly with the sale mgr. Bet they saved some $ using this method. T

I recently went shopping for a GT3 using my 2012, 991, 911S, very low miles, with about $12k of goodies added (aerokit, radar/laser, etc). I found that the best trade-in value I could find was about 25% less than what the dealer was likely to sell my car for. That is a FANTASTIC markup! So, as noted above, I'm going to be patient and sell my car myself, then shop for the GT3. Gene

It can be true that a dealer might not make money or even loose money sometimes on an individual deal. Many times manufacturers will have bonus plans where they offer $300 per unit sold(for example) once the dealer hits his objective. $300 times 300 units sold equals a $90,000 bonus. Will a dealer "loose" a couple of grand on an individual sale to hit their objective? Hell yeah!

Hi Zucc, Lets see, I sell a Porsche dealer my 2012, 991, 911S with 17k miles, AeroKit, top-of-the-line radar/laser, full bra, for say $62k (the best of 2 offers.) Let's then assume they spend 20 hours inspecting and preping the car for resale, and let's give 'em the benefit of the doubt and say here in CA that their marginal labor cost is $60/hr, all-in. (Not, mind you their "billing rate." But their actual cost.) So it costs 'em $1200 to have the car ready for resale. And I'll be generous... let's give them $2000 out-of-pocket to prep the car. (although my car looks EXACTLY like it did the day I bought it!) So now they have $64000 invested. Let's round up again for the cost of advertising - so say, $65000. Cars like mine without the AeroKit, radar and bra and many more miles are advertised on the west coast for $75-76000. And for a ready-buyer they give a $2000 discount. Sale price of $74,000.
The math: 74000-65000= 9000. on a 65000 investment, 9000 yields a 14% gross profit.
Not too bad! Of course the have salaries for the sales staff to pay out of that. Overhead. So they aren't exactly making a "Killing." But they certainly aren't LOOSING money!!!
