I was reflecting on this... (NOT at the track, at the dealer, or at a Porsche gathering).
I am now on my third RS and in nearly ten years, I have some across only one just driving on the road , and that was in Scottsdale AZ one morning. I drive a lot of road miles in multiple countries, and yet, never seems to see one. I have come across the occasional GT3, although still a rare sight.
Am I living in an RS wilderness or do others have the same experience??
May have to move to Montreal if you "want" to see lots. Pretty sure the highest percentage Canadian GT3/GT3 RS ownership is there... as evidenced by PCA Rennsport DE events at Tremblant. Dozens... literally!
In my neck of the wood (Baton Rouge Louisiana) none on the streets! Only saw one RS 4.0 at the dealership because it was in for service and one 991 RS on the showroom. Not surprising as I don't even see gt3s!
Hoping one day to be part of the gang
Downtown Zurich you will see practically everything on a regular basis. Today was below freezing and still somebody was out and about in their Aventador. But now you mention it I do not recall seeing an RS unless it was for sale at a dealer?
Over the last couple of years: 991 GT3 RS = none. 997.2 GT3 RS = one Std GT3's = one about every 4 months
I too live in Indiana; it's a rarity that I see any Porsches, period. That is, except for when The Parade was down the road in French Lick! Otherwise, I can remember seeing only a single GT3 except for my own. Never an RS.
This may not count but I'll cheat. In the wild VERY few but at the Smokies GT3 events... around 40 last spring, 30 during last fall, and expecting to see 65+ (9 991 RS, 45 991 GT3, 2 918, rest GT4, other GT3's). In one place, they're a sight to behold!
I've seen a few. First I did not see until after I heard it. Was in a bunch of traffic near my house and pulling away from light with cars at least 3 deep in all lanes and accelerating to 40-ish in about 10 sec and the tool was spinning the car in 1st gear the whole way. Had to be some kind of aftermarket exhaust as I heard it over the stereo. Iwas in my GT3 praying no one thought it was me. Embarrassing for the marque
With only ~600 RS's delivered to US it will be hard to see them around unless if you are in San Diego or Huntington Beach. I be driving mine all over so everyone can see it in my neck of the wood.
Seeing an RS in the wild definitely depends on where you live. Just track where the dealerships with the most allocations are and you have the highest concentration of RS. My friend used to daily a 7.1 RS some years back so I'd obviously see that a lot. As for 7.2, 4.0, and 991...only seen 7.2s in or around a dealership for maintenance, a 4.0 at an Austin C&C, and no 991s.
Ah, makes sense, you have smoother roads down in the peninsula.. But in the city proper I would think its "almost" impossible to drive a gt3/RS around.. Just the dips on certain roads will rip a front-end off..
(But something tells me you're going prove me wrong)
Just from the top of my head I can think of at least 4 intersections in/around *** Hill and Chinatown that would absolutely chew up the RS. Front Axle Lift, or not.
At least twice a week in San Diego with me driving!
We should meet for a photo shoot if interested. I did a Gen 1 RS v Gen 2 ahead to head for Total 911 mag. Nothing quite like photos of both models side by side.
