On the tire subject, my understanding from Canepa's comments in the video is that the P1 comes with Corsas, and he was saying it would be much better with Cup2s. No doubt. Hard to understand why they continue to use Corsas on supercars. He also implied the mythical lap was set with Trofeos, which in my opinion have too many compromises to be an all-round tire, even for a supercar. I think the Cup2 is the sweet spot given the factors that have to be balanced. But I also think the Trofeo is a better track tire. I wish there were more pro to pro Trofeo comparisons in the same car beyond the Harris video which had a clear conflict of interest.
I tend to agree.

Gossip and innuendo about Ring times are annoying. I have respect for Porsche making an official run. It's a shame the others haven't followed suit, and it's clear that they never will.

All three are incredible cars and perfect in their own ways.

Wha-wha-wha. All I'm hearing are excuses. Respect for Porsche. Put up or shut up.

Old Ring times are going to be useless as comparisons due to the work going on to reprofile some sections...see here on very recent trackwalk from Dale:

yeah seriously. theoretical laptimes are interesting for driver coaching and free practice sessions with traffic but otherwise its called a LAPTIME, one lap, not partial. Either drive the time and publish or stfu until you're ready to do so

I don't think the lap times will come down very much. Even with the 250kmh restriction the adjustment for a 991gt3rs was only 4sec. Apparently they have just taken out the edge from flugplatz making flips less likely. For the really quick boys this whole section was already close to flat out. So a new surface and smoothing out will not make a huge difference.

First trip planned on 8-April to find out for myself :-)

All this conjecture over ring times begs the following question.....Is your decision to purchase either a 918 or a P1 really influenced by this?? I cannot imagine it being so important for a buyer and see it more as bragging rights by the manufacturer. Personally I could not care less which ran the ring quicker and would be honored to have either in my garage!

Porsche, there is no substitute. Honestly the other manufacturers should post a time and video if they want to prove themselves. I have much respect for Porsche. They always send the 918 without special tuning. Everytime the P1 or LaFerrari are in a test they have to be completely dialed in with alignment adjustments for the specific track. Not to mention the P1 always has to sets of tires. Not saying this should be a reason to buy a car, but it does prove a anufacturers technical achievments. I would still take a P1 and LaFerrari over the 918 though.

I have it on good authority that the P1 did 6:46.

Full lap, not segments.

On Forza 6.

Default speaking of Canepa..

Since Canepa was featured at the beginning of this thread, I thought I'd add some color by sharing some pics of a recent visit to his garage... include a pic of his P1. amazing place.. gearhead Mecca for sure.

Beautiful collection^

When it comes to d*** measuring and lap times. P1 vs 918 vs LF I personally enjoy it when a pro driver drives all cars during the same day at for instance Spa or Laguna.

There will always be differences, day temp, set up for different tracks etc, etc. But, these are still road cars. So I'm perfectly ok with that.

This ring time BS is tiring.
