It's my understanding that in some cases, you NEED to add aero fixtures with a balanced approach.

Also...do you know anyone besides RSS that sells them?

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks!
If you are new to the track, my humble opinion is just get to learn the car now in stock form. It has a lot of potential and if you get the track bug, then go all in with the mods.

Appreciate your suggestion. But I've got a game plan that I'm executing. And part of it is driver lessons and plenty of seat time to modify the most key component...the driver.

I agree, track time is key and having a coach is even better. The dive planes can come later after you have exhausted the stock setup and you want to play with different setup options.

After the dive planes were installed, we adjusted the wing and changed the ride height.....but I like more front end grip with the car more pointy.....so that was our purposed behind installing them and why.

Cheers....

Why are these necessary on an RS with the fender vents and all the rest of the aero? What happens to overall balance at speed?

Almost looks like a little too much going on, imho.

I'd never buy an aftermarket aero add-on unless there was wind tunnel data to prove their effectiveness. In all likelihood, they'll just increase drag and upset the balance as you've stated.

These are exact copies of the GT Daytona diveplaines we ran in 2015 in IMSA. They help to counteract the natural under steer of the Porsche.
They also came standard on the 997 GT3 RS 4.0L.
We have had many clients instal these on their cars and they love the improvement in cornering speed. The added drag is barely noticeable on the straights.

As soon as you can drive the wheels off the GT3 you should sell it and go racing. Dive planes look cool but ain't gonna do **** if you haven't used all the potential of the car yet.
Silly people

No doubt they work on the 4.0L RS as they were designed for the aerodynamic profile of that car and its rear wing. The 991 RS is a different shape so I'd expect the canards would need to balanced by changes to the rear.... unless we think that the Porsche (or Stuttgart University) aerodynamicist didn't balance it properly from the get-go.

I'm generally anti bolt-on anything unless I'm confident that there was deep science behind its development. Same goes for wheels and engine mods. The sophistication, effort and cost behind developing even the most discreet component in a production car would shock a lot of people. Especially when it comes to assuring stress and reliability requirements are met.

Well they are not for everybody. Fact is however that we have installed them on Customer 991 GT3's and Rs's and they love them.
Again these are made specifically for the 991 not the 997
