Chris Harris named as new Top Gear presenter alongside Chris Evans and Sabine Schmitz

If they could just sub someone else in for Chris Evans - whom I generally find to be dire and unfunny - it could well be as good as the last iteration. Inspired choices. I wonder if they felt compelled to release the lineup to quash the appearance of trouble consequent to Lisa Clark's departure. I will be very interested to see how Coulthard performs on the programme.

Evans has a very popular radio show on bbc. He is a big time car enthusiast. Just wonder how he will do in front of camera. Chris Harris is the drifter and I have to say he's has grown into the role of making videos.
The challenge for the trio is to make it fun. Top gear was a comedy based on cars. If they make it all about cars and driving we will be the only ones watching.

Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz seem natural car crazy people that come across and genuine and funny. I hope it translates well into the program. I had written it off but with these people on board I will be watching!

Be very interesting to see how this pans out. Evans is the popular choice. He's been in TV and radio for many years and has prime time slot on BBC radio 2 - a broad spread station that is a mixture of song and chat. I'd compare him to a much lower level Jay Leno. Harris and Sabine are generally unknown other than to the car loving population.
TG used to be a family entertainment show with a few cars thrown in for good measure. This should become more of the "car is the star" type show now. Can't see too many camper vans being converted into boats and sailed across the English Channel!! Good luck to the show and could be Harris' launch pad?

You're being kind to Evans. His antics and persona on The Big Breakfast were so twee and annoying, I used to long for Good Morning America when living in the UK at that time. That's not a compliment to GMA. He is a car enthusiast, true, and he has owned some incredible and delectable machinery, but he's no Jay Leno in that regard, far less a Nick Mason. I have assumed his job is to be the Clarkson. I give him credit for being intelligent enough to know he's not Clarkson - lacks the journalistic chops for one thing - and to realize that he needs really strong enthusiast support to his left and right, hence his choices of Evans and Schmitz (he apparently had choice of personnel). The addition of DC is particularly interesting since the BBC is apparently giving up all F1 rights. I am now genuinely looking forward to the programme's return. Given the problems the BBC currently faces, it needs TG to be successful right from the green flag.

Never cared for all the goofball stuff they did on the old Top Gear.
I'd like to think the new one will actually be about cars and not corny BS. The show has to have pretty broad appeal, though, so I'm not holding my breath.

LOL!! TV personality who likes cars that's where the similarity ends I agree. Was just trying to let people know who he is. Personally I don't care for him at all (and again I'm being kind to him!!)
I also can't imagine that Harris has that much respect for him either?? Will be an interesting chemistry to watch.

And there actual presenters that can actually drive and another that can race beyond The Stig. Did the BBC retain him? I'm almost certain they did because after Clarkson went nuts over cold food, what a d!pisht, The Stig was the only person to appear on the Top Gear Web Page's Title.
