I love the sound of my RSS X-pipe! Really smooth and sounds quite exotic. Great upgrade and easy install for those interested. BTW, I have no affiliation with RSS. I'm just a happy customer.

Is this the default best exhaust solution from a sound/cost/weight/ease of fitting viewpoint ?

I don't know if anyone can say this or any other product is the best solution. This is such a subjective matter. I can only give you input of how I made my decision.

I've looked at most of the options out there. Certainly very good ones to choose from. I went with the RSS exhaust for 2 reasons. I wanted a high pitch wail at WOT. I did not want any drone. This system accomplished both of those.

Most systems made the GT3 louder and deeper sounding, not the high pitch I was looking for.

Bypass systems that eliminate the 2 mufflers on the side has been reported by some to create some level of drone. I know drone is subjective, but I didn't want to risk it at all. The benefit to this system is you can eliminate the valve function entirely.

You need to listen to as many of these systems in person as you can and then make an educated decision. Good Luck.

thanks for this, my criteria are exactly the same as yours Sir, so whilst it makes sense to remove the weight of the side pipes, its a a) much more work to install b) probably creates some drone and c) my experiences with my other cars which all have some form of x-pipe indicate this is the way to go. Only thing I would say its that's its a bit expensive

+1 from me as well. Received mine in June and am thoroughly pleased with the sound. Had RSS bypass on 997.2 GT3 and was incredible sounding. The best sound out there IMO. The sound on this new bypass for 991 is really good, especially when at higher RPM (>5000). Have received lot of compliments at the track. Nothing can replace the sound of the Mezger engine, and for the 991 the sounds really good.

I just had RSS x pipe installed on my GT3. Quality is amazing and the sound is incredible. No drone, about 20% louder at wot and nice smooth race car like exhaust note. I would definitely recommend it.
