^no you don't have to replace it every six months. It depends on your use. Tracked cars might experience higher wear. I could also see a weekend car having the film last years with less exposure to sun and less surface impacts.

We tested it.
That's incredible considering Opticoat isn't even one of the better looking coatings to my eye. In any case, I strongly believe it's all about the surface prep.

I'm doing clear film on the heavy rock chip areas and then coating to the rest of the paint. To be clear, those that coat and film on same surface must apply the film first and then coat the film.
Depending on what color your car is, choose the right film when only doing partial coverage. Films with UV protection will prevent the paint from fading on covered areas. With a full wrap this isn't an issue. I think Xpel makes films both with and without UV protection.

so would you recommend without UV protection for partial wraps to keep the paint the same in all areas, and with UV protection for full wraps?

To me that would make the most sense. There are colors that aren't as prone to fading. I would ask your film installer about this.

Fading, however, isn't the only issue as some film yellows. Again, talk to the installer about this.

If I had another white car I would probably do a full wrap with UV protection, but maybe someone with more knowledge that I could chime in here. I'm not sure if the often unavoidable yellowing of the paint on white cars is from UV or if it occurs for some other reason.

I have heard from some others from RL that unique car care is a great spot so that's one of the first places I will be looking. Just hope the pricing isn't too ridiculous.

Our films allow for UV penetration. This is because most people will cover just the front end and "high impact areas." So our films allow for UV to penetrate through the clear bra

16'991GT3-- I live in Boston and I've had two Caymans wrapped by Unique. These guys are top notch. Their work is excellent. They're not cheap but they're not the most expensive either. Rick, the owner has a Cayman GTS. He's a brother!!
