How many do you think end up at non-premium asking dealers though? Those dealers are doing a good job of setting an above MSRP market price and keeping it there.

Or.

Use it to buy a GT3. Still a free car with extra vegas money.

A white RS just sold yesterday for $325K in the Dallas area (saw it). Sticker a hair below 200K.

So the mindset of a buyer like this is what? Hey, I'm worth a couple million bucks or more and have 600K in the bank so I'll think I'll just drop a 125K over sticker and get me an RS? I know plenty of very wealthy people that would never give that money away. God bless that buyer but it still boggles my mind. It's a great country...

Lol... I find this all amusing. This is dealers just understanding that there are people out there with so much money that the premium doesn't matter. I applaud both parties.

This seems more severe than the 997RS early-adopter-penalty. I remember some frogs on ebay for $100k over, but this is pretty insane. But some insane people also have a lot of money.

Apparently there's many people with more money than brains. Oh well, for $400k I'm buying an Speciale.

As would I. But the Speciale has been available longer, so maybe the luster has worn off for some of these lightly-used RS buyers. I'm guessing they were all the first kids on the street to have the latest supersoakers at the pool over the summer.

Good idea. And I think as the RS market goes crazy, GT3 would also hold it's value. Why not just wait until the price drop and trade in a GT3 at the right time.

I had the same thought process then it all made sense when I imagined the following scenario: My favorite car company makes a very limited edition car that stickers at $20,000 and I really want one. They are almost impossible to get unless at a 50% markup. I really want it so I would have no problem paying $30,000 to get it now. Well, for some 10K is insane and for others a few hundred K are no big deal, it's all relative.

Yeah, I'm sure the hype will die down in another 6-12 months when everyone will be talking about when the new 991.2 RS will be getting released. You know, I was willing to pay around $50k over MSRP for an RS but I changed my mind and won't pay that much even if offered one for that price. This BS has decreased my want factor. Besides, China and the rest of the world are slowing down so we are bound to hit a soft patch in the economy in the next 12-18 months anyhow.

I agree. Same scenario, different numbers. It is all relative...
