Default Traffic information via PCM 3.1 and AHA app

August Achleitner - 911 product director - told me that real-time traffic information
via AHA app to PCM 3.1 with online services should be available in the US in a few weeks. Here is an article that mentions availability in EU:

That's interesting! Especially since they are offering retrofitting solution:

From 2016, Porsche Tequipment will offer a retrofit solution for vehicles fitted with PCM 3.1 and built after November 2012. If the “online services” option is already installed, the update will cost €232.05 (inc VAT).

For PCM 3.1s without “online services”, the retrofit will cost €351.05 (inc VAT) and will include the latest map data. To discuss your options, contact your local Porsche Centre.

I have the "Online Services" option with this app as well as XM Traffic.

This option sucks. Useless garbage. The phone has to be physically plugged into the USB port in the glovebox and the app is pretty damn buggy.

Hopefully this will improve it, but I really can't see how it is any different from the XM Traffic.

Are you saying you have to plug in the phone via USB to get the Aha app working at all? That's not my experience, it works fine for me via Bluetooth (2015 GT3, Android 5.1 phone with latest Aha app version from Play Store).

I agree that the app is not great but I never had to use USB for it. Even POI online search via PCM works fine as long as phone with Aha app is connected via bluetooth.

I have had to have it plugged in by USB. Perhaps the Android version of the App is better? I also have a 2015 with the latest Aha app, but I'm running iOS9.0.1 on an iPhone 6S.

- iPhones - For Apple products, you must have the PCM audio interface kit installed for this kit to function. In most cars this connection is in the center console, you must connect your phone and then activate the Aha app.
- Android - For Andriod products, you must have the PCM Bluetooth phone kit installed for this kit to function. Once the kit is installed, you activate the app, "allow" the app to automatically connect to PCM.

So it seems that it works via bluetooth on Android phones only.

Here is reply I got from Porsche - via Sunset parts:
"The traffic option that your customer is inquiring about is available through on-line services..however, only in Europe. The article in which you provided is from a European magazine. In the States, we did not pick this option up through the on-line services as there was no need to do so being we offer XM. When a customer has the XM option, traffic is already implemented into their PCM system. When you see the freeway colors change to green, yellow or red. This is the PCM pulling traffic info from XM. Yes well, when i bought my car i specifically told them i wanted navigation and traffic however when they asked me if i wanted sat radio i said no...and the salesman didn't know...so i got screwed with no traffic info other than when i was driving it in Europe (european delivery).

but nlpamg above said that the app works for him...it sucks but it works.

also i'm not sure i understand, the "online services" allows you to access data from your phone so why would it pick up data from the Inrix app in Europe but not North america??? I use Inrix on my phone now.

also the same news release i got from porsche Canada website...why in gods name would they post it on the Porsche Canada website if it's only good in Europe???

Highly doubt this will be even remotely as good as Waze!

amen to that! I had XM traffic and it was useless. Waze is solid, plus it tells you where the 5-0 are
