Default OT: Viper TA Experiences?

Been looking into to getting a Viper TA. Wanted to know if anyone in here has any experience with the Gen 5 Viper?
Asking in here because there is track experience and high standards!

Thought it could be a fun and wild car...any input is appreciated! (Besides useless trash talking or subjective looks). Trying to get info on driving feel, fun factor, car issues...

And neighbor parked this outside today!

My friend has a viper ta 2.0. What shock me is that the rear wheel is 355 wide. Definitely a fun car, and much faster than GT3. But be prepare for some mystery electric failure...

i checked out a GTS. Its actually a very nice place to be inside. stick and clutch on point. Its a great 8/10ths car to drive with traction, but once you start pushing the tires it gets real sketchy. Just watch any of the review of the car. They haven't sold well either.. your neighbors porsche is skyrocketing in value while the viper has lost 50% in 3 years.

i'd still put money on the RS winning a track day and 1/4 mile. PDK is just so consistent versus a human shifting gears.

Default OT: Viper TA Experiences?

Used vipers are astonishing track car deals for this very reason. Closest you can get to a lemans racer for $50-$60k... Scratch the itch

Default OT: Viper TA Experiences?

The first high end car I bought when I could afford it was a 2002 Viper GTS. I had it for 3 years before moving into Porsches. I loved the viper and really like the new ones, especially the ACR.

i have a 2005 Viper. I use it very little each year.... I am not in love with it, but I cannot part with it. Something about it.

They have the power to be fast on the track. But they are long and small inside. I rather a cayman for the track.

They are interesting animals however.

Thanks for the tips so far. New one seems nice enough inside. Just seems like it could be very exciting and fun...tempting to me.

I own 2 Gen V Vipers. One is a TA, black 32/33, other is an SRT with track pack. They are both ridiculous and awesome. Closest thing to a real race car. I don't have time now, but will put up another post with more detailed info shortly.

Met the owner of a new Viper at COTA several weeks ago. He was complaining of overheating issues after several laps on the track. He cut the hood vents out to increase the airflow, but was still having difficulties. The car is brutally fast down the straights.....

Haven't heard of heating issues with them. Wonder what it was.

Is it a normal Viper? because my friend's TA 2.0 could keep the oil temp below 200 all the time, even better than GT3.

I have to confess ignorance at this point. I met the guy at the track and casually asked him how he liked the car and he said he we disappointed because in just a few laps the car would overheat and he would have to slow down. He said he wasn't getting sufficient airflow through the hood vents and that led him to cut the plastic out of the vents. I didn't talk to him on the last day so I don't know if it helped.

Sorry, I don't know the specifics on the car.

Blue Viper? That was texasviany, a Rennlist member the OP should PM as he tracks a TA, former pro driver and 997 RS owner.
