I have been informed all euro deliveries after Oct 1 will come with winter wheels and tires starting. I have Nurburgring and Spa on my list of stops. Do you have a suggestion for a good source to buy tires in Germany? I'm not sure what brands they can and can not get overthere. The winter wheels are smaller as well - 8J x 20 and 10J x 20 so I need to pick a tire that can fit on those wheels, and be streetable.
I believe that the ED winter wheels come with winter tires fitted, which are required by law in EU...

Hey hey! History repeats itself.
I maybe there in the Cayenne GT around that time.
Hoping for July in the GT4 and I’ll leave it there a few months.

If you sign a waiver they will give you your summer wheels and tires.
Locally contact BOES or Manthey I suppose for convenience?

If I get a GT4RS in the winter I’ll go To Spain or Portugal I guess.

Thats new info to me - to sign the waiver. The other challenge with winter tires is they require you to bring the car back to Leipzig (where I picked up) presumably to switch the tires back. If I take the summer tires, then I (presumably) can drop of in Zuffenhausen. I will investigate this further, thanks!

It was Dec 2015 when we picked up the Macan and they have us winter tires.
Went back a couple months later and asked for our own wheels and tires to be mounted and we had to sign etc.
It was snowing the day before, but we were heading to no snow areas…

It was Sindelfingen as of 4 weeks ago. Same place I dropped off the RS in 2019.

Ironically (given the desire in this thread is to *not* have winter tires on the car), the exception to not being able to drop the car off at Zuffenhausen is if you took the car on their winter wheels/tires. In that instance, I think you must drop the car off with them only at the factory center(s).

This was true in October 2018 at least,
so entirely possible it’s changed since.

^^ Makes sense. We drove back to the factory where we picked it up to swap wheels.
Not sure how the law works in Germany, but I think it’s only a problem if you actually drive or have an accident in the snow, you’re at fault on summer tires, or non snow tires?

Someone correct me .

My instructions from PCNA Euro Delivery manager Joey, is that it will be necessary to return the car to the place of pickup (in my case Leipzig) due to the winter tires being installed - and presumably to swap back to the standard wheels to get ready for stateside shipment.

^^ Makes sense but I think if they would be willing (They’re not probably) you could make a pitstop in Leipzig swapping to your own wheels and tires before you to to wherever you want to drop it off.

8 weeks ago, when I picked up the Macan, many of the usual drop off points were cancelled.
It was down to just a few cities and the factory drop off points..

Porsche notified me yesterday that the cars are built but the Cayenne be only picked up in December, WTF, it’s June!
Wrote an email that I just need the key, no ticket hotel etc etc.. Or keep the car.

Almost as useless is the GT4 getting build next week, pickup is October.
I may still do it and head south but the track days end in Oct in Germany.. Ugh.
Haven’t heard back yet but told dealer ok to sell both cars to someone else.
Both go for over msrp so they should have no trouble.

Looks like I’ll have to fly in and rent a car again before the Ring season is over..
I’d buy one in Germany but now with the GT4RS coming I guess I wait.

The GT4 pickup is very close to my build date for the GT4RS is November, so that’s a definite trip to Southern Europe I suppose.

Booking tickets to fly to the Ring yesterday and I got pissed that I’m renting cars while there are two cars sitting in Stuttgart, sent an email to ED to say as much.

Got an email back that I can pickup the Cayenne GT July 19th?!
So that’s confirmed. Won’t be doing that many laps but still want to feel it out on track..

Here we go again..
