991.2 Taillights conversion
I was expecting 991.2 to have 918/macan style 3D taillights.
They just released 991.2. I compared the pictures seems the rear bumper tail lights cut are identical. Also according to EVO " Bodywork updates are limited to a revised front bumper design, new headlight and LED daytime running light layouts, vertical slats on the engine cover, more stylised rear lights and a new placement for the exhaust tips,"
So I hope for 991.1 owners we can just buy the tail light and put on .1 cars.
Hope the lights are plug and play no coding needed. Even if we need dealer to coding the lights it's still a lot cheaper compare to 997.1 to 997.2 rear conversion which the bumper is different.

Guess we won't know until someone measures.
But from initial pictures, they look slightly different. If you look at the tapered end towards the rear wheel, you can see it seems "fatter" on the 991.2 vs the 991.1.

Actually also on the logo side of the tail lights, if you look at the lower beveled recess on the bumper you'll see it's sharper on the 991.1 whereas on the 991.2, it's angled. Similar to how the 997.1 had a sharper corner and the 997.2 had the angle.

I think I prefer the 991.1 design.

Different sized/shaped rear lights and different rear bumper. As they say, "ain't gonna happen".
Probably the same case with the steering wheel. Different airbag too, and Porsche will make sure it's not compatible (programming wise) for obvious marketing reasons.

I think design wise, the 991.2 taillights are a big success. But like mentioned about won't fit. Also sharper edges more in tune with redesign. .1 lights are elegant. Wouldn't change them.

There is a video shows a 991 GT3 with RS steering wheel.
I guess it can be done with factory parts. Just the cost is too high ( Bumper + taillights? ). May be some other pieces needed as well.
My best bet is if the .2 bumper cut out is different then I hope dectane will make one just like the did for 997.1. I have the Dectane on my .1 TT and liked it a lot. Also plug and play.

It doesn't look like a plug and play situation. Not a fan of trying to make the car look like a newer one.

A good way to waste thousands of dollars only to have a Frankenstein car that will be more difficult to sell/trade later on. And might raise questions about covering up an accident/bodywork.

I'm not crazy about having common design themes across all the Porsche models. SUV's to sedans, to
sports cars.
The rear looks too plain. I like the front though.
