Lots of people seem convinced of these software glitches which I've never seen - you only know with an ODB scanner what the problem was. Even with switching the car on and off again it clears more serious problems and restarts the system as normal.

I had an injector in cylinder #2 fail earlier this year, the car would shutdown the cylinder and a few others when it got hot enough - only after about 35 min sessions shifting at redline. If you switch the car off and on, all cylinders would be running fine again and the error clears. Two cylinders were replaced then we had a coilpack issue - 6 coilpacks were replaced and now the engine is fine. But every step you could switch the car off and on to clear the errors. You could even drive a 40 minute session at the track short shifting and have no problems.
