Mustang 350R claims track times close to the GT3
Anyone know where to get a 350R. I spoke to a large Ford dealer and they said only 50 made this year and IF you can find one they are $50k over msrp. True?

When they say "this year" they mean tagged as a 2015 car. 100 regular GT350s and under 50 R's. However, starting third quarter of this year, the 2016 run will be made and sold. There will still probably be an initial rush and some ADM, but Ford will make what they can sell, eventually.

Mustang 350R at Grattan Raceway Time
I live about two hours from Grattan Raceway and have been on that circuit over 30 days with various PCA groups. The recorded lap time of the 350R is fast and comparable to what a well driven 991 GT3 would put down. The 350R appears to be a pretty capable vehicle.

Grattan has a quarter mile straight that I have reached 145 mph in my 991 GT3, but as you can see from the video, most of the rest of the track is curves. There is another "straightish" part of the track where I think I may get up to 105 mph. I don't think most people would characterize the track as one favoring high horsepower cars.
I timed the video using my phone. I estimate the Mustang did the flying lap in 125.5 secs. I think a 991 GT3 in a talented driver's hands can do better, but that 350R lap impressed me.

What recorded lap? Steve's 1:25.5 was with a journalist passenger, at an admittedly a "safe" speed. I'm sure without a passenger in the morning on new tires would be quite a bit faster.

Its not about how fast it can go. Its about how long it can go that fast.
I'm sure it can empty 2 tanks of gas at full pace.
But can it do 20 days at Sebring on 4-5 sets of tires, 2/3 sets of pads and 1 set of rotors?
Do you need to back off it keep everything from melting after 30 minutes or still capably of being wrung out towards the end of the session?
If it can, it really doesn't matter what car is faster by a few seconds..

Race Car
Different chassis/platform/engine but again my current Ford likes to do full track weekends and drive 350 miles to and from. Never had any issues.

Yours must be built in a different Ford factory than because both my 2001's were really hard to keep running 30+ track days a year.
I like Fords, but I'm pretty sure no Ford product survives a hot Sebring weekend with just pads and brake fluid...
I've had a hard time keeping up with some Corvette's in a GT3, but I've never seen a Mustang on track that wasn't a full blown race car that I couldn't pass. Corvettes puke out way more motors though..
Different organizations and run groups and all that..

SN95s are archaic compard to S197s, which seem to fare pretty well on track while being pretty reliable. S550s are probably an equally significant leap forward in terms of performance and refinement, especially considering the GT with a Performance pack comes with 15" front rotors and 6 piston calipers. I have not faded a GTPP's stock brakes on a couple tracks and I bet a pad and fluid swap would hold up pretty well at Sebring in summer.
