FWIW, I'm on record saying the manufacturer Ring Lap record race is misguided. That said, I don't support banning if someone wants to go for it. It is the Ring after all; last bastion of personal recognizance, which is in woefully short supply these days.

I hope they reverse the decision. As meaningless as it may be for street cars, it's nice to have one track that everyone can use as a benchmark. What other tracks could fill the void if this decision were to stand?
