nurburgring bans laptimes
Looks like manufacturer laptimes on the Nordschleife have been banned. So the 918 may be the last....am on my mobile so can't post link. will do later
Quote from Pistonheads article;
"We're still awaiting official confirmation from the Nurburgring but it would seem the situation isn't an outright ban on setting lap times, more that the speed limits introduced following the VLN crash remain in place for all circuit use, including industry testing and private track hire. With the obvious effect being anyone gunning for a time would have to abide by the restrictions - including the 250km/h limit along Dottinger Hohe - and thereby not be able to set a competitive time. More when we have it."

Good. F' the 'Ring owners & management. The safety police are everywhere. Instead of improving the safety of the 'spectators' they decided to ruin it for everyone else.
Time to move on to Spa, which is a much better track to begin a new history of lap times for manufactures and all.

Following a recent fatality... This happens about once a decade with the decade with Magazine's and their Vmax test when some ultimately losses their life. It's sad but don't punish everyone else for someone's fatality. You think they will ban guns because of some accidental death? It happens and banning this and that is a "Knee-jerk" reaction. People are going to continue to die due to the nature of how dangerous an undertaking driving the ring is. Especially those who are pure amateurs; though I know not the ability of the recent fatality. Good thing this is 50's and 60's F1 racing where professional's were buying the farm just about every race.
Now everyone can organize those Clio Cup races for the rest of the year. Now that is racing.
