991 GT3 RS or Used 458
#61
I have a 2011 458 I have had for 3 years. A great car. I think you could pick up a '11 with less than 10k miles for high 100's now. IMO it feels much different than a 911. I have an RS coming but if I didn't a 458 would be what I did next.

Did you mean more than 10k miles? An '11 with less than 10k miles is a little difficult to find for less than 200k. 2010 under 200k is reasonable, but who knows, I may be wrong. Haven't looked carefully at prices recently.

It'll definitely have to be a private party purchase too as I refuse to buy a used car and pay sales tax on it. I'll have to consult with you guys before it's time to seriously look for one.

Asking prices are higher than that but there are a lot of 458's for sale right now.

I agree 100%. RS is where it's at. KY, you may want to follow up on your Voodoo Blue RS. Porsche announced today that only three colors will be available for September and future builds going forward, Black, Racing Yellow, and Miami Blue.

Until March 2013 you paid no sales tax on a private party sale in Georgia, for example.

Did they change the law in March 2013 so that private party purchases would be taxable after that time?

There is now a "Title Ad Valorem Tax" that is due when you register a used car, private party or not.
The TAVT is now 7.00% IIRC. I need to go pay it on my new to me 991 GT3 - probably $11k out the door.

The 7% is basically sales tax, and no more Ad Valorem which would be about 1700.00 a year on a GT3 now it's zero cost annually. Sweet deal for new car owners in GA, and being used or out of state will be hit with the new cost changes.

I would by the 458, I am in the same boat, but cannot fit in a 458 without carbon buckets, hard to find, i have a #1 in line gt3.2 manual, if and when they make one. I want a manual, but I also only plan on a few track days a year and love the 458. I have always been a 911 pcar guy, but have been toying with a 11 or 12 458. 200k for a car that will be 30k less in march ( give or take) will watch and wait until next spring and hope the gt3 is available for winter or 18 spring.

Hopefully it didn't take him 20 months to decide This is a very old thread. 458 prices do seem to have dropped more since then.
