Perhaps the wiper blade is ghetto but a taped on piece of aluminum that sticks out like a sore thumb is just as ghetto looking. To top it off, $130 for that piece of aluminum and double sided tape.

After Ed made all the awesome stuff out of Delrin....I'm in love with the stuff. My wife is a little weirded out by the delrin sheets for bed we use now but whatever? She'll eventually get used to it!!??

Also, it should be noted that this is the first generation design from Blackmill Performance. The new and updated version has subtle design changes.

Perhaps if Blackmill focuses efforts on newer version that is less protruding, and we can see how it mounts (issues with removing it), then I imagine more folks would be interested. I like the idea, but on the fence with regard to how it attaches and how secure it will be. If I go to remove do end up damaging the OEM piece it attaches, too.

Now, if we could only fund Ed's development work - we might have a lot of takers. Competition?

I have been reading all of the comments about the design and functionality that you guys have been mentioning. I don't have a technical explanation for why the Blackmill's are designed the way they are. What I can share is that I know Eric, the owner and engineer of Blackmill.

Eric's engineering background covers projects that are infinitely more complex to design and infinitely more responsive to engineering design changes. His level of experience and knowledge so far outweighs anything these wind buffet kits will ever be capable of.

Since I am not an engineer, and I suspect that not all of those on this thread are Aeronautical Engineers, I must say that I fully trust Eric and his design. I am sure that there is a VERY specific and well thought out design process that went into these.

Below is an un-boxing sequence and a comparison between the first and second generations. The differences are subtle in appearance but I am sure the effect is profound. The second generation has the small tapered edge on the top that slopes downwards.

Thanks for the pics! I'd be interested in seeing the slightly different gen 2 on a car (just looks like one of the corners is chamfered?).

That's why engineers do engineering (function-focused), and product designers to product design (aesthetics focused) and meet in the middle somewhere.

Nobody is claiming that the Blackmill parts aren't functional. They're claiming that they aren't aesthetically pleasing, and that better compromises between function and cosmetics exist. For example, a simple 1/2" lip attached right at the leading edge of that triangular trim piece is all that is needed to fix the buffetting...
