McLaren 570s MSRP'ing at $185,900.

The 570S does look pretty good. Would take it over the new Audi V10 plus. It will certainly give the Turbo a run for its money and one will have to consider the 570S in that market segment.

I bought a 12C spider new, car was incredible but had on going minor annoyances. I loved the brand and understood McLaren would have teething problems. I then got a 650S new which was incredible as well, however the minor annoyances persisted and it grew old. Even though the problems were minor ( air brake fault, roof stuck open or shut, iris problems etc.) I hated losing the car for weeks at a time after just one or two drives. McLaren was a very expensive lesson for me, I will never buy another as in my experience reliability was a recurring issue.

I hope most of us can figure out my mis-calculations. I'm just baffled at how much the McLaren's, well 12C, Have fallen in value. Good thing we don't live in the English market where car values drop so fast and stay low it's crazy. That and you have to pay the car Crushers to take the vehicles off your hands, they don't pay you.
It would have been better to go from the 12C with minor tweaks/refresh (new nose etc), add the 675LT for track customers and add the 570S as the down market alternative that people could cross-shop vs a used 12C. This would have actually helped 12C values be nearer to the 570S rather than 650S used values being the 570S alternative and the 12C being the ugly step-child.
Sorry for the rant, but it's what continues to keep me away as a customer...

IMO, McLaren created a lot of the 12C depreciation with the 650S. They didn't leave enough space in terms of price, performance and time between the two of them so that existing 12C owners would get some more protection.

Looks good in silver.
From the article:
When you’re out there, stuck between the taxi's and buses and cyclists who like to chase supercars, even the financial relief the McLaren 570S brings in terms of McLaren pricing should be helpful.

Lots of speculation from a lot of non-owners. I've owned several GT3s, and my 2012 12C is the best car I've ever owned. Reliable as ever - I have taken 2,000 mile long trips in it; blisteringly quick; the most comfortable performance car on the planet; looks and feels special; best forward visibility of anything short of a sprinter van; I can go on and on.
All the negative aspects of the car have nothing to do with engineering, performance, or reliability.
Yes, depreciation is unreal, dealer network sucks (unless you're in SoCal - we have 3), service information is hard to come by (until I compiled a service manual and brought it to the market), aftermarket part support is horrible, factory parts are horribly expensive, and yes yes yes, the infotainment system "IRIS" does suck.
Having said all that, I have just sold my 12C because the overall cost of ownership/depreciation is too high, and at 6'4", I certainly fit better in a 911. What's next? 991 GT3 or RS.
As for the 570S - you would have to be a fool to buy one over a CPO 12C. As for the 12C, the firesale is over, and you still have to pay 160k+ for a good one... Wholesale today is higher than a lot of numbers thrown around on this thread.

By the way, the reason the 12C tanked so hard initially is that McLaren had NO marketing department (I mean, like, not even a single human being), and they flooded the US market with 1000 cars a year, split between just 10 dealers, for an expensive, unknown brand.
They are learning, and they will eventually get it right… This is a BRAND NEW company successfully taking the fight to today's top brands. Pretty incredible what they have achieved.

I saw the car in person and there was nothing about it that drew me towards the 570S. Even McLaren dealers are telling their customers to keep their 12C, as the 570S is a lesser car. Just saying.
Would I take a 570S over a R8, a Turbo S, even a Huracan? Yes, absolutely!

I am not on love with McLaren styling but this car at its price point makes one take notice.
But- the Huracan is in a different league. In a couple of years if nothing excites me more I will look to pick up a low mileage one. Since a little kid I have always loved Lamborghini styling.
I just have to wait to get sick of my GT3 which could take a little time. I really like this freaking machine
