Default Slicks

Who has put slicks on? How is the car handling it, and most important how the rear wheel steering is coping?

Uuuuhm...

Don't you know, slicks violate warranty guidelines?

You'd probably have a better chance of moms confessing about their pool boys.

You are better off going with the Pirelli Trofeo R tire.......if you run a slick, there are a lot of upgrades you need to make, many of them from the 991 Cup car.

Agree with James. The Pirelli Trofeo R tire is very close, if not similar, to Hoosier times. There are no 20" size Hoosiers so you will have to go 19" and make adjustments to suspension so the wheels will fit.

Slicks: At least on 997's you need other suspension details (don't remember exactly) to cope with the larger forces that are generated with the slicks.

Does the RWS need to be removed?

Not the kind of shows that are out these days

Unfortunately can't run Trofeo R here due to warranty (must be MPSC2). It would be interesting to know what has to be changed. Slicks are something I might consider much later on in the future (cough cough after warrenty)

Hoosiers and Trofeo R are similar? I thought Hoosiers were leaning toward the slick side more. Such as the difference with MPSC2 and Trofeo R

Had a discussion with a buddy of mine, he was adamant about the car not being able to be used with slicks due to RWS.

Can you be more specific James. I really am bummed about the tire options for GT3 and would be interested in this.

Guys there is I believe two threads regarding a guy or two running 19" Hoosier slicks on his 991 GT3. He posts tire sizes and says there is 0 problems with PSM, RWS, etc. It is mentioned that the car is incredible with them on. Minimal modification was required as well. Search or someone can post a link.

G, when do you get your car? I had the GT3 out at Thermal for our Track Day with the Trofeo R's and it was pretty impressive!

We can look at the Hoosier option as well with 19".....
