Default XM radio can it be added?

Can XM radio be added to the standard sound package plus after the fact?

No, not if you want an OEM setup.

You would have to go aftermarket and retrofit the system

Get the XM/SIRIS radio app on your phone then steam it via Bluetooth or hard wire through glovebox USB port. Easy and no roof wart! I stream music from Pandora and other online sources with no problem.

Perfect. I am an XM user in the house and my Honda. This sounds like a nice solution. Thanks...

Congrats. I came to the same conclusion after trying it out. No need for the wart. ( saving a bunch in options cost) What's more interesting is have the app on one wifi type source like the phone and then use it at home, office, other cars, etc. Thereby reducing the number of accounts needed to cover. Also try it with Pandora or the like. With Bluetooth streaming it is FAR superior in audio quality to XM.

Best use of XM radio option is as a workaround for the horrible Porshe PCM bug of auto switching to FM Tuner at startup before AUX-BT is connected.

Yes, sounds better.
The system switches easily between Bluetooth call and XM app on my aftermarket radio.
It also runs of I pad for when phone needs to not go dead.

Dead phone remedy, just hook up cigarette lighter charger unit to phone (good reason for "smoking package" option for center console) or use USB port in glove box for interface. If in USB port it will play and charge at the same time

That is unavoidable but those first few seconds of FM are a small price to pay for all the other advantages...

If you have PCM set to XM and then power cycle the car, does it still go back to FM?? I thought in that case it would at least default to XM.

As I don't have factory installed XM I can't answer the question. I can say that if the PCM is streaming online from the phone through aux/Bluetooth and you turn off the ignition leaving it in that PCM mode it will default to radio FM at start up.

Quick Reply: XM radio can it be added?
