Porsche asking dealers how many RS waitlist deposits they have...
#61
I have mine already, but just trying to share what I'm hearing.
Not all dealer information is created equal, the Principals that have the big Porsche collectors as clients have better information.
Heard this before with the GT3, production stops December. In fact, it was the ordering that was supposed to stop in December but seems that was quite not right either since new allocations seemed to be popping up in 2015, not to mention 30 PTS cars that came out of nowhere. I'll live with my GT3 if I don't get an RS and be none the worse for it, but frankly all the talk about allocations for the RS being done rings hollow. The dealer information is utterly unreliable often because they are given conflicting information from Porsche.

As for allocations, they've been communicating the strategy pretty consistently. Read Walliser's comments in latest Panorama. They'll make enough to satisfy most of the "real" demand, with just enough buyers left scrambling to make them feel scarce. Bang in line with every prior gen.

Folks, no one said 991.1 production stops completely once the 991.2 is unveiled.
The 991.1 GT3 stopped completely before the 991.1 GT3 RS because they need the capacity to produce the GT3 RS, and because historically people stop buying the GT3 once the GT3 RS has been made available.
PAG never said no more allocs, period. They also never said more allocs are coming. All they've said is that all (current) slots have been allocated. PAG has a history of taking new data into account, and adjusting accordingly. Period.
In terms of 991.1 and 991.2 production overlapping, there's even a bigger historical gap (in terms of 911 generations) when the 997.2 Turbo and Turbo S remained in production despite the rollout and SOP of the 991.1 C2 and C2S.
I can definitely see how the end of the 991.1 GT3 RS run could overlap, for a short period, with the start of the 991.2 C2, C2S, etc., production.

If the 991.2 will just be facelifts then I don't see how the start of the 991.2 cars will end the RS and GT4 builds. If we were talking about going from 991 to 992 then yeah. I'll just be patient and wait my turn for an RS and/or GT4.
