To trade, or NOT to trade... That is the question!

Just to drive home the point on my wonderful wife, a few days ago I took delivery of a Speciale and the truck driver said something about the car being my new baby... My wife immediately countered with: "Actually, it costs way less than a baby... By the time you raise and educate a kid, the Ferrari is a deal!"

I experienced the same agony over trading in or keeping my 09 C2S on my 2014 GT3. I didn't have the extra garage space either plus all the additional costs conspired against it so I traded it. It was a sad day. But to be honest I enjoy the GT3 so much more that I don't miss it that much. The GT3 is just as good of a daily driver as my 09 particularly since it has axle lift, plus like your wife said,
it's a race car.
it's a race car.

I still miss the steering of my 2005 997. Something changed with the 987.2/997.2, and it was not quite as good...and we all know what happened with the 991. I also don't think there has been a better looking 911 since the 997.1. Not that it is the best looking 911 - just that the 997.2 was not an improvement, nor is the 991. But that is all I miss about the car. It had every first-year problem of the 997, plus the transmission crapped out (followed by a recall to prevent it), and then it was part of the class-action. Thankfully I no longer had it by then.

Okay - I am going to look at this very objectively because right now you are emotionally attached. You have ~ 18,000 miles after 9 years. So, you do not drive a whole lot. Therefore, why keep both. I know you think your 2005 is special but that is because it is your baby. It is time to let her go and start screwing some thing very special. Plus, why tie up the cash and the garage space. Buy your Wife some thing nice for her great appreciation of some thing you enjoy. I think you would fair better on a private sale with the low mileage. Most may disagree with me but the Dealer will rape you where you will do better selling it to some one who appreciates the very low mileage and probably the impeccable condition - My $.02.

Good question because I do not know on hand. I would do a little home work. Look at Blue book, see what my Dealer willing to offer, get another Dealer to also quote ect ect Does your State offer a tax credits .... I think it all depends on the time one is willing to spend. Since there is a lot of passion about this car and no rush to sell- why not take the time? And - I could be wrong

Keep the 997!! That kind of good karma can't be bought, even if it becomes a garage queen....T

I have about 850 miles on my 991 GT3. I still don't quite "get it" yet; it's a big car and it still feels like it to me. Drove my 2006 C2S today. Absolutely love it! Ordered it new to my spec, have 50k miles on it. Have hauled kids, dogs, TV sets, suitcases, guitars, amps etc., etc. Not really a practical family hauler, but a very engaging car to drive all the same.
My 2 cents: your one-owner, launch edition C2S with uber-low miles has already taken all it's depreciation it's going to take. You should keep it rather than give it away to a dealer. Every now and then take it for a drive and revel in the balance it offers.
I know I'm keeping mine.
