Can anyone advise me if I shall remove the stone guard protections before placing the chequered flag on the side ?

Or, would you stick the decal on the stone guard protections?

I would remove the stone guard protection film before applying the vinyl for a cleaner look. I also wouldn't want to worry about the vinyl adhered to the protection film.

If it were me I would replace the factory stone guard with Expel Ultimate or a similar "clear bra" product and put your decal over top of it. If I did not put a clear bra on any other part of the vehicle I would put it on the front of the rear fenders. I would also apply it to a bigger area than the factory stone guard. This area takes a pounding from road debris. The factory stone protector will yellow so I would definitely remove it. Hope this helps.
