Default 991 GT3 hype/allocations vs. GT4 hype?

Hey guys, I wasn't around the boards when the 991 GT3 was released I was wondering how does the GT4 hype compare? Was there the same neuroticism about waitlists/allocations with the 991 GT3? Did everyone have a happy ending of eventually getting their cars?

The GT3 frenzy was probably worse.
First, it's the 'will I get one' phase.
Then the 'when will they replace the engine' fiasco.
Then comes the 'what color should I get' thread, followed by the 'which deviated thread' to select, 'which headlights', etc, etc.
Then the 'who's on what boat' discussions, followed by 'how long does the port keep them' nonsense.

Next is the whole 'how to break it in' discussion. And 'should I get a clear bra'.
Then 'is the white smoke normal' and 'how much oil does it use' threads.
Can't forget the 'which roll bar' and 'how much camber' and 'what tire pressure' threads.

So the GT4 paranoia is just starting. Hang on for the ride!

You forgot about the lift or no lift discussions and "it makes all these noises, is this normal?"

Delivery pics are the 'Happy Endings' that our soon-to-be-familyless User1029 is referring to. Or perhaps he's referring to the Thai massage he'll get to relax the GT4 tensions he'll develop over the six months of configuration masturbation, PTS PTSD, track prep camber copycatting, and initial funny noise and unseemly uneven hood seams. That is, if the GT4 follows in the footsteps of its big brother, the Caymanovore, ahem, the GT3.

Then we were sidetracked with the RS thread of almost 500 pages.

It really does make some odd noises....although as I was driving down the road I kept hearing a noise that sounded just like a plastic water bottle sounds when it's empty and you crush it. I kept moving my head all around the cockpit and finally realized that it was an empty water bottle being squeezed between the passenger seat and the door.

So....then there's that.

I think the GT4 hype will be worse than the GT3. The reason for that is the price point of the GT4. Now, these are actually different cars and the GT4 is being touted as the gateway to the other GT3/RS models. But, at the GT4 price point you open it up to a whole new and different Customer base. It is still exclusive by the Supply numbers but more accessible because of its price.
