991 GT3 or Turbo
My father and I are looking to get a 991 GT3 to share on track, but they are just really difficult to find in FL right now.
So my question is, How good is the 991 Turbo on the track and can it be made into a potentially great track car? Is there the ability to remove around 300lbs from the car to get towards to the weight of the gt3. I would guess this could be done through making it rear wheel drive through the removal of the front differential, driveshaft, and two axels (is that even possible) to remove around 100 lbs. As while as bucket seats to save weight from the normal 50 lbs seats (each) to save around 80 lbs., removing the rear seats to save 20 lbs, removing spare wheel and tools 40 lbs, race battery to save 30 lbs, and gmg exhaust to save an additional 30 lbs. overall I think that this would save around 300 lbs. Is it possible to change the suspension on the 991 turbos to JRZ or is it not possible because of the rear wheel steering?
Would anyone have an estimate on how much this would cost if possible? For the most part the cost would be labor till you get to the suspension, seats, and battery. Has anyone done anything like this before.
Please let me know if I am insane!!!!

the rennlist entry for a basic GT three minimal miles and ready for the track and located in Florida. If you're looking for a GT3 track car this is a good option for you. The turbo is a great car for the street and for daily use for someone who wants a luxury sports car. If you want a track car then the GT three is the one to choose. Trying to make a turbo into a track car by removing weight and changing drivetrain, etc. will only significantly devalue/destroy the turbo and you will end up with something that is a compromise.

991 Turbo is a luxo boat GT. Not worth trying to tun it into a track rat. (it is fast however)
The 991GT3 already has the aero and chassis dynamics for track along with PDK S.
What do you have to trade?

Well,
I have TTS. It is tuned by Champion Motor sports. GIAC stage 2, Tubi race exhaust, H&R lowering kit. 700 hp with 100 octane tune. Total mods, about $10k. Fact, Lbs/hp is real. Car is totally trackable! No stock GT3 will be passing you. But, GT3 is much more engaging car.
Good luck?

I have yet to track my GT3 since I just got it. However, I can tell you my TTS is insanely fast on track stock. However, it is not a track car. It's too heavy, not nimble, rolls too much, and will chew up tires and brakes. I drove both tonight and the GT3 is noticeably slower on the road but sounds great. I hope I can get my GT3 to out perform my turbo s Lap times out of the box. We'll see.

At the end of the day, it'd probably be cheaper, and you won't be driving a Franken-Porsche.
