Saw this comparison of Crayon, Fashion Grey, and Carrara White Metalic in another thread:

I have held the Chalk colour sample up against VAGs Metor Grey on a Skoda. It is slightly a shade lighter and maybe just a touch browner. But reasonably close.

You are not helping me get closer to accepting Chalk as a Fashion Grey substitute. :-( Sad they didn't offer FG instead of Chalk.

I thought I posted that picture in this thread, but I also have one that shows the colors in the shadows. FG is definitely a bit darker, but Chalk actually seems to pop more and in the shadows or bright light actually gets pretty close if you don't have the two colors directly next to each other. It actually happens with people who whiten their teeth and think they havent gotten better until they compare to before.

Here are the two colors in shade/light

I like it in that photo, but them being so different makes me happy about ordering Fashion Grey and waiting so long. I enquired about Chalk last year but obviously it wasn't an option. I very likely would have ordered it if it was and missed out on the fun of PTS.

I just really like the "color" of Fashion Grey from what I've seen. Not all greys have color in them, if that makes sense.

Makes sense. I've seen a car in Fashion Grey and some samples. It changes a lot depending on the ambient light – going to be interesting to see how it is to live with.

There's no question Fashion Grey is a winner, but can Chalk be? I don't think so.

Turns out chalk is actually the hybrid of Sport classic/dolphin and Fashion Grey, and leans on the SC side. So if you guys liked the Sport Classic, this is the color for you.

Thanks, and I agree with you, nim. I suspect they'll look virtually the same unless there were two cars side by side to compare and then the difference would be pretty small I would guess.

To me those colors look very different even in that image. And yes, accounting for the curves of the surface. The side by side panels are a much better way to compare anyway.

If that person needs a spectrometer to tell the difference I think they really need an eye doctor.

There definitely is a difference, albeit a minor one at that.

A chalk panamera came to a dealer 50 miles out from me, and because I'm slightly insane I went to check it out. The color is AWESOME and a total chameleon. It's a legitimate hybrid btw sport classic and fashion grey in person, leaning towards sport classic side (but slightly). Here are a couple shots. The one from a distance with shadows, the other right next to the paint, and then I brightened up the picture (did NOT change saturation or warmth settings). These pics were taken with an iPhone 6s if that matters for your guys judgement.

and the slightly corrected version

Thanks! Looks great! I think lighter greys in general have that chameleon effect which makes them quite attractive in real life imo.
