Tracking Dong
#17
It will take about 8-10 days for ships to arrive in San Diego after arriving in Cristobal, Panama depending on conditions. It is about 3000 nautical miles between Cristobal port and San diego port. Average about 14.5 to 15 knots, you area looking at about 8 days. 3 days is impossible, sorry.

It looks like Dong has re-appeared in the Caribbean. I'd be really amazed if the ship managed to dock on time. My schedule shows it in SD on 2/13. Assuming it's still at least a day away from Panama, then at least 8 more days to SD, that's 2/14 if it doesn't stop. Other ships I seen will sometimes hang out in Panama for a while.

Dong is on the move again! It's in the Canal today and schedule to get to the Pacific port of Balboa in 8 hours!
I don't know how long it typically takes to reach San Diego from there but it seems like 2/13 is not a realistic hope anymore.

Aaaaaaaand, anchored again. It was scheduled to be in SD on 2/13. Even if it made it through the canal today, my understanding is that the earliest it could get to SD is 2/20, and that assumes perfect conditions and that the port slowdown doesn't affect it. I'm certainly not getting my car until well in to march.

It's an 8 day sail, absent any delays.

The last couple of boats that I tracked (Glovis Companion, Artesia Leader) were 8 days sailing time from Canal to San Diego. One of them stopped off Baja for about a day to coordinate its arrival with San Diego Port's schedule.
It's an 8 day sail, absent any delays.
