Default PDK-s vs Manual

As a long time skier, who moved to Snowboarding about 15 years ago, I have come to the conclusion that the 6-speed vs PDK-s argument is a LOT like skiers vs. snowboarders.

I now prefer Boarding, and find skiers irritating (AT BEST.) When I was skiing, the opposite was true.

I now prefer PDK-s and paddle shifting, and I find those 'stuck in the past' on 6-speed manuals irritating. Before my GT3, I wouldn't have ever considered a PDK car. Go figure. Thanks to my GT3, I rarely drive my RS or my 72S.

Time goes on....

I have such a phobia about PDK that I won't even test drive a car with it and have blindly ordered an RS - figure I'll find out what its all about if the allocation comes through .

One thing for certain w/PDK - No longer a PIA leaving Starbucks on a Sat/Sun morning with a cup of coffee and juggling not to spill it

Sacral adage! In the hole you go! Stone him break his bones! How could you go against the order of the mighty manual! Booooo booooo be ashamed of thy self! Down with your progressive and forward thinking!

Back to reality, I tried a snowboard, never went back to skiing. Manual is fun at times, but I get tired of it when it gets tedious. I would however like to drive manual, if a certain auto is not satisfying. The only manual cars I enjoyed driving really are Ferraris, that metal gate is so good. I get the skiing irritating part, as I would relate it as someone saying a car is not good because it's not a manual.

To each their own. I will only drive manual cars. That's what I like. Once I get old and can't use my left leg to depress a good sports clutch, I may get a chauffeur or a PDK car. Not yet 40, so it'll be a while.

Skiing is now 'cooler' than snowboarding again so fashion is no longer a factor in choosing to board. Boarding is better for off piste. Skiing is better in pretty much every other way. All I know is that I'm an intermediate to good skier and I wait a very long time for 99.9% of snowboarders to catch up. And don't get me started about chair lifts!!!

I'm in the "whatever you put on your feet and do on snow is good" camp.

Full disclosure: We're a 2 stick family and both my kids compete in the mogul for Killington in the east. Here are a few of my son's runs from last season at Killington:

I grew up skiing in Seattle and many of my friends have transitioned to boarding. I will always choose 2 sticks. More better for me. I think this car was made for the PDK-s and it a really big part of it's character. I likee! With that said I do miss rowing the gears and have suffered from a bit of manual withdrawl lately. The only solution as I see it is to own both so I'm currently looking for a manual toy. Picking up the F250 freed a spot in the garage I'm eager to fill.

Plus as Jimmy said. Venturing to Starbucks now is more relaxing.
