Smokin!!

Be sure to let the car idle for a minute before shutting it off. It allows the oil that gets stuck up in the valve train to drain back down into the oil sump. Also will happen if you just back the car out to wash it, then shut it off.

Just to clarify. Are you suggesting to wait for the smoke to subside then allow to idle for a minute or, at start up, if smoke occurs shut off after a minute?

Porsche had to work hard to give us that FEATURE.
Enjoy it!

I agree and I do!
I know some did not get the "special" button on their console, with the little icon of two exhausts pipes smoking with a Prius behind them and owner coughing. I was one of the fortunate ones
BTW, does anyone know the easiest way to upload a video taken from an iPhone?

No. When you are finished driving the car, the flat 6 is best put to bed by letting it idle for a minute or two, allowing gravity to pull the oil out of the drivetrain, back to the oil sump. If not, it will drain into the combustion chamber, and hence the smoke on start up. Remember, the pistons are laying on their sides. This also can occur with a quick cold start move, as the flat 6 runs high oil pressure at start up, and then when you re-start it to move it next, it smokes.

"I love the smell of Porsche smoke in the morning". There are no better scents than that of a women and the smell of my Porsche. Some time I prefer the latter.
