I've posted a few questions and comments here and there on this forum over the past few months while building and waiting for delivery of my lightly optioned car, which occurred last weekend.

First and foremost, I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone here for all the helpful information you all made available, from optioning the car build to what to expect when driving it. As my first new build Porsche, posts here helped me figure out what made most sense for what I wanted...after spending countless hours reading through posts on topics such as PCCB vs. Iron and LWB Seats vs. 18-way, I felt pretty confident building and ordering the car without having real-life samples in front of me. And upon taking delivery, I was already well informed of its quirks, saving me many calls/visits to my dealer: brakes that sound like a train is pulling into a station, steam coming out of the front grills when it’s raining, excessive smoke at startup, and clunky gear shifts in automatic mode at low speeds. During my drive back from the dealer, my brother (who was a mechanic) saw some of this and got all nervous… I smiled and told him calmly that this is normal - it's a GT3!

The following feedback is nothing new from others’ reviews, but there’s a big difference reading about the car vs. experiencing it. I've only had a chance to drive the car for about 75 miles since delivery. At startup, the engine / exhaust has a nice rattle at idle to remind me of what I'm driving. At low speeds, the car is very clunky, PDK-S shifts jerky… - much better at 4k-5k RPM - love how fast the shifts happen and dynamic engine note when changing gears at the flick of a finger. I love how PDK-S does not creep like in other PDK cars I’ve test driven (gives it a bit more of a manual feel…...just a bit). I've only brought the car to 5k RPM very briefly, and it sounds pretty amazing already and can't wait to put the PDK-S in sport mode once broken in. Car is a lot smoother than I thought it would be even on some roughed up roads (did not activate the sports suspension yet), and almost livable if the car wasn't so low. Though the LWB are a PITA to get in and out of, I feel more connected/ engaged with the car when I sit 'in' it vs. when I sat 'on' my 997 seat. Much of rear view visibility is blocked from the beautiful spoiler...for most cars behind me, I just see wheels and maybe the top of the hood…harder to identify cops, especially since NYC is getting more patrol cars w/o rooftop sirens. Biggest issue I have now is getting this car out of my driveway –- had to spend 45 minutes to get the car up with help (with the lift engaged)… very painful constantly going in and out of the LWB seats to adjust ramps/blocks.

Can’t wait for spring to take this out on a more consistent basis.

Congrats. By the way I see your plug in the ash tray looks like a radar detector. There is a more dsecret plug on the left side passenger area.

Well done! I wish I had known about all of the quirks before I got mine. I was freaking out and thought the car was broken until I remembered this is a GT3. That doesn't sound like fun getting in an out of your driveway. Would something like this help?

There are controls on that plug - it looks like an Escort 9500. Wouldn't be able to access them from the passenger footwell.

Congrats - looks great. FWIW, getting in/out of the buckets gets easier with practice. I ended up with a technique of lifting myself in/out with a hand on the sill. Doesn't even strike me as awkard now.

Thanks Money2536! And your previous posts were very helpful!

The Griots curb bridge was the first product I saw to help address my problem, which I may ultimately wind trying out short of re-doing the driveway, but trying to go for something more portable at the moment - also a bit concerned this might not address the specific angle I would need, as one side of the curb is a bit higher than the other - only appreciated this detail with the low long lip of the GT3.

www.raceramps.com produces very lightweight (about 10 lbs each) ramps at varying angles - this is ideally the setup I want: http://www.raceramps.com/other-customs.aspx. Crossing my fingers that I'll figure this out by spring.

Wow - good eyes! Yes - exactly the reason why I have the smoker's package..to plug in my radar detector so I can reach out to the center console and mute out false alerts.

Thanks Dave - that's encouraging. Dealer taught me the hand-on-door sill technique...I still gotta get the hang of it. Glad these seats have manual fore-aft adjustments, otherwise would have to wait forever for electronic controls to push the seat all the way back to make way for me to get out of the car. While less than a handful of people sat in the passenger seat, I find that I have to give tutorials to each person on entering and exiting the car.

Congrats on the car. I have a similar problem getting my regular C2S in my garage. I just use a few planks of wood. I guess I'll be going to Home Depot for even more when the GT3 arrives. But then I always knew the GT3 would give me wood! Forgive the terrible attempt at humor.
