Head2Head: GT3 vs Z28

While I agree with this, I think they're using the GT3 for now until the new Mustang GT 350 comes out, which I think is a more natural comparison to the Z28 - both in terms of price and demographics.

I did actually cross-shop the two cars, and glad (for now) that I went with the GT3. As noted, the Z28 has better tires, and putting the Trofeo R on the GT3 would widen the gap further. Time will tell how the two cars compare as far as track durability, but my bet is on the GT3.

Well said. At this level, every fraction of a second costs a lot of money.

Furthermore, the GT3 a car that you can daily drive, can't say the same about the 458 spec.
Money aside, I would take the gt3 over the z28 every time. I am not so sure which I would pick if I have to decide between the 458 spec and the Gt3.

That z28 looked like on was on ice skates. Randy said it skated easier and more than the other z28's he had driven. Tires looked old too. Didnt expect the z28 to win but that didnt look like a good representation of it. You lose a ton of time on steady state corners if the back end wont sick. And thats all willow is. That thing looked outright dangerous.

There are plenty of bohemoth track weapons these days if you havent noticed. The Corvette weighs in over 3500 lbs.

I disagree. The z/28 is clearly a lesser car than the GT3. The GT3 isn't really a lesser car than then 458 spec. It may be slower on the straight, but it makes up for it in the corner.

I'm a GT3 lover too, but it's not on the same level with a 458 speciale in a lot of ways, and it's half the price. If someone handed me the keys free new to one or the other, I would take the speciale. I think a lot of Porsche lovers would too. Same could be said of the z28, less than half a gt3. I can just hear the z28 guys saying "the gt3 isn't really a comfortable daily driver" but if someone handed them the gt3 keys for free they would take it all day...
