PPF: How Much Wrap Does The GT3 Need?
#17
Same here....live east from you. Car is in the garage with 50km on the clock, just looking beautiful under the car cover, but ill need to figure out if i get a wrap done or not. Not sure about local installers vs what we see on blogs from South Cali (GP?), DetailersDomain, etc.

I too am on the fence. I had a Fcar that was wrapped and I will say it was harder to keep clean. There are cleaners that can dull the wrap. Also I have found that long term, some of the "edges" accumulate dirt.
I believe I had a top quality job done, but after a few years, I wanted to remove it all. I also had some black heel marks in it by the rocker that would not come out at all.
Now, this was originally done 6 years ago, so perhaps technique and material have improved.
Right now, I am considering leaving it.

I'd love to get the whole car done if only the installers these days didn't charge 3 arms and 6 legs. $8500 seems pretty standard, at least in CA, and that just seems like a silly price for something that's going to get torn up and yellow eventually anyway.

Agreed. I feel like you could repaint the entire car for less than that.

That's a crazy price. It's about $5500-5600 for a full wrap of Xpel in Michigan.

I think wrap is over rated and makes people just feel better (including me). I've had many levels of wrap. I don't think it's necessary at all and I track tons too. The wrap makes the rubber marks much harder to take off. They come off way easier when directly on paint (mothers race rubber remover). I feel like I'm protecting the paint for the next owner sometime. With all that said, my current standard is to do the entire front. You cannot tell there is a wrap if you go to someone experienced and uses xpel or sun tek. You cannot tell paint color wise and it is just as shiny as the rest of the car.
