Patrick Dempsey Porsche 991 GT3 Cup Design
from the article:
The livery on Dempsey’s 911 GT3 Cup is designed by Porsche fan Julia and it looks like a giant fingerprint as if somebody’s been trying to crush the car with their thumb.

Maybe they should spent less time designing and more time learning how to drive faster. They ran 2 cars in the USCC, finishing 13th and 26th. In fairness, even the factory team only finished in a pretty disappointing 4th.

Not only that the factory Porsche team doesn't race in the same class.

I love what Patrick is doing.
He deadicated to the sport and in top physical condition.
As good of a chance to become a good driver as any.
He also brings alot of attention to the sport which is great.

I don't understand the vitriol in a few posts; he's personable and a truly enthusiastic race car driver who brings welcome publicity and sponsorship to a series that's struggling financially.

I don't think anyone was intending that. I certainly only meant to poke fun at his disappointing season. For those who aren't familiar with the USCC, the category he is in is an pro-am group, so all teams have amateurs. He's obviously very talented, but it would be nice to see him win something. He's only been on the podium once this season. 5th at LeMans with Patrick Long as a co-driver.

Call it quits because he's not in the winner's circle? Ummm, I'm pretty sure he's doing it because it's fun for him. With that logic nobody on this board should own a GT3, because unless you live within driving distance of the Autobahn, it's pointless to have a car that can approach 200mph. I spend thousands of dollars a year racing RC cars without any possibility of winning anything substantial. Why? Because it's fun. So the guy isnt Mark Donahue or Hans Tuck. He's still a darned good racerfor being an amatuer and even if he came in last every single race (which he is not), as long as he's having fun, has good race ettiquette and not putting his and others live's in danger, it's fantastic that he's out there.

I think he is trying hard to accomplish his race craft. The biggest help to our sport is that he has cashe with fans that are not car people and he has the opportunity to pull then into our sport - the more the merrier. Talent and abilty wise he is not Patrick Long, but it is entertaining seeing him try. No doubt his celebrity has carried him places like LeMans where more talented drives have failled to be accepted. But that agin brought a large audiance of fans that never were exposed before. More power to him, I'd be doing it if I had the opportunity.

As to bringing "welcome publicity and sponsorship to a series that's struggling financially," if you're referring to USSC, USCAR, TUDOR, IMSA it's not clear what the Dempsey Racing level of involvement will be in 2015.
Dempsey Racing is looking to expand in Europe and run FIA WEC.

My wife and I attended the Rolex 24, the 12 Hours of Sebring, and Petit le Mans at Road Atlanta this year and Dempsey is one of the racers we follow. Sure hope Dempsey Racing remains engaged with sports car racing in the US.
