Default Changed from GT3 to Turbo

In the year and a half from when I put a deposit down on a GT3 for a 4th quarter 2015 build, my needs changed. I will be moving from Iowa to the mountains in Colorado sooner than later, so AWD, better ground clearance and the benefits of a Turbo at elevation won out. I love the GT3 but the Turbo will be a far more practical car for me going forward. February build with early April delivery. Thanks to all who have helped answer my GT3 questions.

I contemplated this as well. I can't argue with any of your points. Having driven both, the new Turbo S had almost no lag and felt really connected, certainly with a change of tires, PS2s in summer, winter rubber otherwise, you really will have a great car year round. Only real down side is the sound and hey you can always listen to my car as it sits in the garage with this current weather! (-1 F and 3 inches on the ground with more coming)

The Turbo S is the best Porsche I have ever owned. I've owned a few.

I agree I will miss the sound of a NA flat six, truly a major part of the Porsche experience given that I will be trading a 2009 C2S and am used to having it. Fortunately I have a 2011 Spyder for that soundtrack during warm weather.

I felt turbo lag (the other disadvantage I worried about) was minimal. I had to try to find circumstances to notice it. It's a lot less than my 2011 Turbo Cayenne or a 997.2 Turbo I tried awhile back. Obviously it doesn't have the crack throttle response a GT3 has.

BTW, the Birch Green (?) Turbo looks spectacular..........

Great car! Congrats! And driven correctly, it is a great car on the track! I'd like to see
what it could do on Michelin Sport Cup 2s instead of Pirellis.
Watch it pull away in the straights from the GT3 at Barber Motorsports park.

991 Turbo S is a very nice car. I sold mine and got a GT3, but I started to miss my TTS these days.

I read somewhere that one of the Porsche engineers said that the Turbo S, with the Sport Cup 2s,was faster around the Nurburgring than the GT3.

That wouldn't surprise me. Given the length (and some of the straightaways) on the 'Ring a car like the TTS that can build up speed in a straight line will probably have a better lap time.

Not according to the list of 'ring times at fastest laps.

http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/nordschleife.html

The 'ring is a twisty curvy track, it rewards handling over power. Looks like the 991 GT3 and 991 Turbo S would be down to the driver.
