Default Pics of installed laser shifter / radar on 991 GT3

Does anyone have pics of an installed laser / radar system on their 991 GT3? I have looked into some options for a fully-installed system (Escort 9500ci and Bel STir, etc.) but can't find any pics of how the front grill looks with the installed components.

People / installers have only shown me the pics of a regular 991 or 991 turbo, but, due the grill design, those have much easier places to hide the components. While I would LOVE to have the protection afforded by these laser shifters, I don't want to make the grill of the car too ugly or have to cut up the grill mesh to get the install done.

Any real-life 991 GT3 pics of exterior are welcome (appreciate interior too!).

Mine is being installed as we speak.. I dropped the car off tonight. I will post pics in a few days. As long as you have a qualified shop do the work you will be in good hands. There shouldn't be any cuts

ALP has really small jammed heads and fits nicely on a GT3.

So minor hiccup today... Unfortunately the 991 GT3's bumper/grill has less space than the previous 997.2.. I had taken the 9500ci out of it to install on this one.. Anyways..... The good news is the newest 9500ci model the shifters have been updated and they are smaller and shouldn't cause a problem for anyone with the 991.. For me to upgrade my unit to the new shifters was going to be $840.... (my wholesale cost) Therefore we decided cut out the grill to mount them seamless. Before anyone goes crazy a new grill is just over $200 so in the event I need to take it out I can just swap out with a new OEM grill from Germany. For me it made sense...

It should be done tomorrow and I'll post pics.. Here are some from my previous one.. Just to get an idea..

provoke: I can't wait to see the new pics and had the same thought on the grill replacement option.

i'm very interested in this subject... reading about radar detectors and jammers is an exercise in frustration... so many different opinions, especially with which laser jammers/shifters work with the new lasers. I assume those on this forum are more knowledgeable than the general populace on the internets, so I'll ask here.

what are the best permanent options for a radar detector/laser detector+shifter, and are there any options for moving the system from one car to another?

thank you

As you know it seems like everyone has a preference.. I have been running Escort Passport products for over 10 years. 9500ci I cannot tell how many times I have speeding in excess of 20mph an system alerts, I brake to speed and turn the shifting off. Drive right by..... I purchased one of the newest Lidar guns on the market just to test on my own. (DragonEye) Supposedly is invisible to the detection and shifting.. I will say it works here and there but its not 100%. The guns are almost $3000 and most departments wont spend the money on them along with the required necessary certification and training.. So at this point I don't think its a concern.. In addition Lidar isn't like radar that broadcasts a large signal.. With Lidar it shoots a very small beam of light.. If you don't hit the headlights front/rear tag of a vehicle it will get no reading.. Honesty on a moving vehicle its quite the challenge esp from a distance. It normally takes several tires to get a read which also gives you a second or so to slow down.. I'm not an engineer on this but from what testing I've done this is what I conclude.. I will stay with 9500ci as for me it better than piecing shifters with a V1 or the other options out there..

This unit here I installed on my 997.2 GT3 2 years ago and its being put on my 991 GT3 so its about $300 to remove and about $500 to reinstall.

Have the k40 system including jammer on my 991cs. Has worked well although I have determined audi blind spot detection systems use the same RF frequency and sets off the detector. Not sure if the escort systems have the same issue. Looking for something for my MY15 gt3. Advice appreciated. Thx

provoke: 2 things about that install are surprising to me...
1) my "potential" installer insisted that the 2 laser shifter units need to be facing in forward direction that the car is traveling. Yours seem to be aligned at an angle to the front of the car so that they're flush and in-line w/ the grill. Did your installer say it was okay for them to be pointed off-center?
2) I like how they are recessed and even w/ the grill, but my installer said if there's an overhang, then they'll be limited in their protection of anything above the grill (e.g., the headlights, which are a prime laser / lidar target).

It's f'ing awesome that you bought the laser gun!

Those seem to be "always" the questions between installers.. To answer I have a Cayenne and the shifters are mounted in the grill.. The nose protrudes further out just like on the GT3. Never had an issue with them working. Its been installed since 2011. I don't think a 1 or 2 degree is going to change how they work.. There are so many other factors that would play in to effect ie weather, position of the lidar gun, distance, etc. I wouldn't worry.. Or at least I'm not. The installer is probably just trying to cover his **** as the installation manual say that is the "correct" way.

Yes... I know its dirty..
