Default GT3 Paint Correction

So if you haven’t declared me crazy yet, you may change your mind should you decide to waste 3+ hours of your life to watch my goofy videos. I’ve already done a step-by-step paint correction using mostly photos in my other journals. For the GT3, I thought I would set-up my camera and talk you through my entire process.

Now I know there are lots of detailing tutorials and videos online, but they usually gloss over the details in interest of entertainment/production value or don’t want to divulge all of the secrets. I wanted to put something together for those that enjoy doing this stuff themselves. I’m not selling any products and don’t have an agenda. I’m just a super nerd that loves doing this stuff. I have a unique gift to do endless research and seem to have a ton of free time on my hands. I am simply posting this to share with others that are like me. That, and I don’t have any friends.

To qualify these videos, I am not a professional. I don’t detail for money. I will not detail cars that are not my own due to the time investment. My time is worth much more to me than the money someone would pay me. Not to mention, who would pay me my hourly rate to do this anyway? I don’t claim to know it all, but I’ve developed a pretty decent process through extensive research, spending thousands of dollars, and many years of trial and error.

There isn’t any techno music and there is a ton of dead space as I filmed pressure washing, polishing, taping, etc. I kept the camera running a lot during the videos and pretended I was talking to someone that wanted to learn what I know. I hope these videos help you skip some of the mistakes I’ve made over the years. Thanks for entertaining my obsessive tendencies.

Matt

Money should be up there with Macca and Mike in CA as essential contributors to the forum. There should a "subject master" title given, with a sub-forum to ask questions, where Money for example would be head of the "freakish detailing" dept.

I never know anything past "wash and dry" existed. I'm in awe

Awesome detailing tutorial. Just got through the third video. Thanks for taking the time to do this and I respect your commitment. I followed your c2s detailing posts and you definitely kicked it up a notch this time around. I have the 6" Griots and I'm also debating about adding the Rupes Mini to compliment it. Are you thinking about making a Sharkwerks video similar to the passes you did when you installed the AWE system?

I'm going to get the Mini and LHR15 at some point. I love these things.

Yeah, I'm going to try and get out this weekend to make a Sharkwerks video. The key is not getting arrested trying to do it.

I am having a similar thing done , the car is clay barred too. What I am having extra is the application of 4 coats of Ceramic Pro.

Will post pic in the Official GT3 Pic thread when done.

Awesome vids. Any concern using a gas blower to dry the car? Isn't' the air that comes out also the engine exhaust.

Great stuff Money. Are you not concerned about using a high pressure washer and getting water into areas you don't want? What pressure are you using ? Also another little tip, I noticed you had a belt on your pants, I try to avoid having anything on me that could scratch the paint, meaning the buckle. I will always use sweat pants. Just a thought. I love your passion.

Matt, looking for your opinion on someone doing full detail/paint correction, finished with Menzerna SF4000 and then sealed with Sonax PNS. At that point is there anything else you can apply like a carnauba that will help the depth and shine of the paint or after using a sealant is any top coat essentially adding no value? Thanks in advance.
