I bought a 991 TT six months ago and appreciate the quickness of it, but something to me is just missing. Even though I do not get out as much to the track, I am missing that sense of connection and rawness that I had before and, in many cases, prefer my old 991 C2S to the Turbo.

The GT3 has always interested me and when I heard one the other day, it reminded me of what I seem to be missing.

Are there any folks who switched from a TT to a 991 GT3? If so, what are your observations of both cars.

The Turbo feels heavier and is(all wheel drive)-which can be obtrusive when driving hard. Turbos will never sound as good as a NA and the GT3 just sound awesome. The Turbo is definitely more refined(not that raw) and I think t is much easier to drive which does not make my hands sweat like the GT3 - so I find it a little less exciting. I also love a big *** wing; especially one that look like it belongs. - my $.02

yep. Havent owned a 991 turbo, but have driven one, and 997, 996, 993 turbos. My view, unless you go back to the 993, the water cooled turbos are awesome easy squirt the pedal fast. Great daily drive, handle all weather, so much torque. I put them in the category of an RS4/6/7 from Audi or a BMW M series. Fun, fast, GT. Faster than a GT3 in many situations. Just don't snort and sound like one, and don't get that razors edge linear throttle control and steering feel

I considered and test drove extensively (had a loaner for a day) the TT before buying my C4S.

To me, the TT felt a bit synthetic, and too easy to drive fast. Sort of video-game perfect. Don't get me wrong, it's a fabulous car by all accounts, it just wasn't what I was looking for.

Still trying to figure out if the GT3 is for me. Or not.

Loved my Turbo. Just awesome. AFAIAC, the only thing missing was the engine music.

996 Turbo: My first 911, and I loved it. It had some personality, and it was helped by some mods (coilovers, exhaust, etc).

997 Turbo: Was boring right out of the box, never really connected with it. Tried some mods, didn't help. sold it after less than 18 months, and actually preferred the 996.

997.2 RS: Once I bought this, all thoughts of a Turbo went out the window. Never looked back. I'll always say a GT3 will ruin Turbos for you. And now that the 991 is so much more streetable, there's no reason to own a Turbo (IMO of course!).

NB - I have not driven a 991 Turbo, so it could be markedly improved. I do think the Turbo becomes more GT-like in every iteration, which to me is not the direction I want to go.

I like hearing this. I kept my 996TT - I also have a flash, exhaust and coilovers and sways and I love this car. It is my winter and grocery getter every day. Drove it this morning since it was 32F when I left home for work. I've often thought of getting a 997TT, but the one I tried didn't feel as engaging as my 996TT - sure it was prettier and probably faster, but was definitely missing something.

OK, I took the plunge and ordered a 15 GT3 for December delivery. Just couldn't get past the softness and overly refined nature of the Turbo. Here's the build:

I got the 991 TTS 6 months ago, my feeling was exactly the same as yours. It's too soft, lack of sense of connection and rawness, I could barely enjoy driving it in the street. The only time I enjoy it was on the track.

I have sold it and I should be able to get my GT3 next week, I will give you some feedbacks later

I'm in the same boat - had a 997.1 TT, went to a 997.2 GT3, ordered a 991 GT3 but cancelled it due to the stop sale and jumped into a 991 TTS. I like the car a lot, done a little tracking with it, but grabbed an allocation for any early November GT3. I'll probably turn in the turbo, but if money were no object I'd keep the turbo - in my opinion it's a really good car, much much better than the 997.1 TT. Can't wait for the GT3, it's the second time I've been waiting for this car - hope I am not dissappointed.
