Default Porsche Factory Tour Today

I just got back from the Porsche factory today. I was very amazed at all the GT3's I saw today. They have definitely stepped up production! I saw several being parked and more sitting in the lot. One nice Mexican Blue. Also saw one in the production line. I was amazed how they can add any 911 variant into the production line including the Cup cars with ease. You could see a Cabriolet Turbo followed by a 911s hard top followed by a GT3. They can insert any car at any time.

Not of the cars unfortunately because they confiscate your camera and phone. I did meet a guy and his girlfriend from New York. They just picked up his new 918.

I spoke to the guy at great length. Really nice guy and has several current and old classy Porsches. He got one of the very first GT3's in the US back in December but gave it back after the stop sale. He couldn't stop talking about the GT3 when I told him I had one on order. Mine was actually coming out of production today! It would have been amazing if I could have seen it today but no such luck. I saw two black ones like my order sitting in the lot but they were obviously not mine since I ordered my headlight nipples in black and these were silver.

They were taking off and headed to the ring today. The girl has a web page called speed hunters. She is doing a story on Formula 1 driver Vettel in Austin this November and will be on the track with him.

I really amazing tour. They do both a cold and hot test on all GT3 engines which is unique to the GT3 since all the other models only have a small fraction hot tested. It was clear that the hot test was not extensive enough to call it a break in. The other interesting item was that at the production exit they do a complete test including dyno and just about all are detuned slightly.

Oh I wonder if you saw a white one on the production line?
I'm sure there are plenty of white ones there, but mine did finally go into production today and it's a white one. HA! Maybe you saw mine! Cool that you got to tour the factory. I have to do that some day soon.

I did not see a white one on the assembly line but quite a few white ones in the parking spots. Seems like they don't have a designated lot for the cars. They were all around. I just kept looking for black ones since mine was suppose to be completed today.

I believe that must be STEF430. He was picking up his 918 this week. From NY, has an early GT3, as well as an incredible stable of cars. Good guy, posts mostly on 6sp
