Hi all... as you may remember , I had a GT silver GT3 on order. I bailed in mid march for a few reasons I won't bore you with.

The car I ordered which was cat B was picked up by another customer at my dealer. Earlier this week my dealer called and said my original car was leaving port and the secondary buyer had backed out in favor of a pts 991 TTS cab. I am working with PCNA to work out a deal to make me happy.

I have loved everything about my c2s that I bought as a replacement. I am shocked how much I drive this car. It never gets old and the performance vs comfort trade off is unreal.

I am worried that my c2s has spoiled me. I am afraid the gt3 will be too much car now that I've gotten spoiled by piloting a Porsche everyday. That the noise and hard edge will wear on me.

I leave my c2s in full sport (exhaust, suspension, engine) at almost all times and shift manually. I love the glorious sounds it makes. It hits redline often and every time it does I think the gt3 would have 1500 more in it.

I track the car at least once every 2 months.

For those of you with 991 carrera experience... Loaner or otherwise, I'd love some opinion on interior noise and suspension and drivability. I can't fathom not daily driving this car and need to decide whether it works with the GT3.

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, however I am thinking many of you coming out of your loaners have additional perspective to share.

sgroer, I don't exactly fit your question's criteria as I had a 997.2 C2S which I think it's fair to say was a little more raw than your 991 S. It had the lower/stiffer sport suspension and PSE and like you I drove it in full sport most of the time.

There is a big difference between the 991 GT3 and my old C2S. Significantly more interior noise in the GT3, from the engine, gearbox, exhaust and general road noise due to less soundproofing and the mechanical sounds from the drivetrain. The C2s was turning about 2300 rpm @ 70mph in 7th gear, while the GT3 is turning about 3000. I could comfortably listen to the stereo at freeway speeds in the C2S, in the GT3 the stereo just adds to the overall noise level. The GT3 is quite good on smooth pavement, and even handles rough stuff well for what it is, but in general it is much firmer than the C2S was. Because of the wing, visibility is more limited and of course the car is much lower.

Everything I've read about the 991 is that it is more "civilized" than the 997.2 so for everything I mentioned above the gap between GT3 and 991 Carrera would probably be even greater. I'm not saying that the GT3 couldn't be used as a DD, but if you have found perfection with the 991S in that role, at least be prepared for the compromises you will have to deal with a GT3.

Thanks Mike. I had other intentions when this all started... A 2 day per week kind of thing which I think would have made comfort and quiet a non-issue. The 991s has completely changed my perspective on daily driving a car of its performance level. Overly stiff suspension definitely does bother me after a time. I have read a couple of places that the suspension in a 991gt3 is comparable to a 991 s in sport mode. If so or even remotely true, I can handle that. The 991s suspension in sport is perfectly tolerable for me. This all may be irrelevant as I'm not willing to take a bath on my 991 and I'm still working it out with PCNA, who have been very helpful thus far.

I had a 991S have a 991 Turbo and recently road in a GT3.

First if I had any brains I would have kept the S. A great car. I don't though.

The GT3 is 30 percent firmer or so, lower a little faster looks and sounds cool. A grittier more focused car

I plan for my GT3 to be a DD. We will see. But I am keeping my Turbo too.

I think the GT3 is stiffer than the C2S in sport. Maybe 25 percent. All just my opinion.

I had a 2009 997.2 C4S which was my daily driver for 5 years and over 100,000 miles. I had my loaner, a base 991, for 6 months and 8,500 miles. I'm now at 2 weeks and 900 miles in my 991 GT3. The 991 was noticeably more comfortable and quieter than my 2009 C4S. The GT3 ride is very close to the 997.2S in sport mode - maybe a little softer. I hear far more engine/exhaust sound in the GT3 (good sounds) than in the 997.2S but less road/tire noise (bad sounds).

So, I find the 991 GT3 to be a great daily driver. The wife and I are leaving on a road trip through the Northeast, tomorrow (CT, MA, ME). We're taking the GT3. I'll easily be using up the 100,000 miles of warranty before the 5 years are up

Like a lot of folks, many of us have owned a 991S and as you already know its a terrific car. So is the GT3.

You seem to be balancing your preference between the "deal" that PCNA work out for you, or your driving needs/desire. IMO, the desire for a GT3 is either in your motoring DNA or its not. One knows instinctively if it is. If you're unsure, it's not for you.

These are different cars for different purposes and unfortunately no one but you can determine your needs.

I'm coming from a 991S and looking forward to a change by way of a GT3. Viola!

To me it sounds like you can live with the compromise of the 991 GT3.

Personally I took the chance (before it came out, and with no one to ask) to buy the 991 GT3 and I haven't had a single regret! Drove the car for every day, except when it was back for engine replacement. My odometer hit 10.000km's today and I am loving it more and more every day!

If you love cars I would be really surprised if you don't want to drive this car every day! The only reason I can imagine is that people have to take a different car because of their profession. Otherwise maybe if you live in a country without paved roads.

As you can see, there are subjective differences here; I remember the C2S in Sport mode being softer than the 991 GT3, Scott thinks it's the other way around. I don't want to stray too far from the topic but it might be instructive for sgroer to compare spring rates for the cars. I have the numbers for the 997.2 S but not the GT3 or 991. Maybe someone has that info and could post those numbers. For the 997.2 they are:

Sgroer, You already got the 991-S and its working. Get a 15 with buckets if you can otherwise you are back to square one and you already been there, why bother, no?

I test drove a 991 GT3 and was surprised how comfortable it is (far more comfortable than the 997 iteration). It won't be quite as comfy as your C2S obviously, but I think it will make for a fine daily driver (unless you need the extra seats/space, of course).

Yep. Unless they give you a smokin deal on the 14, I would look for a 15 allocation

Personally as much as you like the S I wouldn't go to a 14 GT3.

I currently have a 991 911 C4S, and use it as a DD.

I've test drove, and ridden, in the 991 GT3.

GT3 is stiffer, lower and louder (inside and out) than the 911.

As to your question about whether you can use it as a DD? Yes, you can.

But the better question is whether the GT3 is a car you want to use as a DD.

Personally, for me, I'm still debating it. Getting in/out of the GT3 is a suit and tie is sort of a task, and one thing that appears to get glossed over on this board is that the MPG on the GT3 is not as good as it is on the 911, which, if you're using it for a DD, can be something to consider.

Just my 0.02.
