I cant believe you cry babies getting upset over a clock, how about these OTHER supposed race cars?
The clocks on our cars are tastefully done small and make it LOOK like some kind of performance equipment.
Its the first thing everyone asks about, and a lot of them ask about a lap timer. So even the uneducated have
a small clue on what its for.
I must however admit some ignorance on the SC option, on the 997 you would lose some of the performance
without SC, is that not true on the 991?

I would have ordered it ....if I had a useful purpose for it? My 991S has it, and I have not used it once. Everyone that see it says nice clock. Sorry don't need a 2300.00 red clock to tell the time.

there is no performance gain with SC for GT3 or RS on 997... maybe for standard Carrera's... same goes for 991. I had an RS without it.. still had a sport button... just no ugly wart that is never used. Looks a little better in 991.. but realistically, 99% of time, no one ever uses the lap time on the car, as you have to use transponders on track to officially log lap times.

Then what the heck is Porsche charging $1800 for? Like I said its not even an option on the 15 GT3,
But on the old C2S carrera I believe you didnt get the sport or sport plus button unless you got the SC package. It appears Porsche just let this sit out there to see how long they could get $1800 for nothing.

It's under the audio section, and you're correct only value for the 991S because of the extras. GT3 comes packaged minus the expensive clock.

Sport Chrono Package incl. Porsche Track Precision App
Includes:
Analog Stopwatch
On upper section of dashboard

Digital Stopwatch Function
In instrument cluster

Additional Performance Display
In 7-inch color touchscreen when in conjunction with Porsche Communication Management (PCM) incl navigation module
Porsche Track Precision App
The Porsche Track Precision App enables your driving stats to be displayed in detail, logged and analyzed on your smartphone. The lap timer can be stopped manually using the control stalk for the Sport Chrono function - automated by GPS. You can then compare your lap times on your smartphone. The app also visualizes driving dynamics, presents a video analysis and allows you to manage the logs, circuit profiles and driver profiles on the smartphone device.
NOTE:
Use of the app permitted on closed land only. For information on compatible mobile phones, please visit www.porsche.com or consult your Porsche Dealer.
