If you are using the 991 GT3 as a DD, I'm assuming that, in addition to driveways and ramps, you need to employ the front axle lift each time you come to any kind of non-benign drainage gutter or speed bump. Is this right? For those of you who drive your GT3s around town, is this a pain or no big deal?

You get used to it. Then you get lazy occasionally and scrape.

Scrape and crunch are two different sounds and prices... I can think of raised manholes in this city which might take out a front bumper entirely

It would be a bigger deal if the lift wasn't so fast and didn't work at speeds up to almost 40mph. But since it lifts in just over a second, and works at normal in-town speeds it's not a pain as long as you remember to use it.

It's interesting how much consideration is given to the sense of need for those who have the lift but I wish we could get more who didn't to comment on the hit frequency or likelihood and conditions. It seems natural to say it is necessary as a daily driver but perhaps that is just a convenience variable to say. Wish we could get more hands on feedback. I will advise when I receive since I will be using on the road a lot too. Not necessarily daily driver but frequent driver.

Basically, when I used to not have a lift on these type of cars, I just grinned and bore it. Or I go so slow that I get honked in the back. Now I have the option to just hit the button. The rise is instantaneous. Its great.

As for myself, I know I am going to scrape the splitter and accept it like I accept tire wear or paint nicks. Part of owning a car.

I am somewhat like that too, but my wife hates it when the car looks all beat up! And yes, she drives it. She drove all the RS's too. She actually prefers manuals!

I got the lift for a piece of mind and for those necessary occasions where it will definitely be needed and useful. But, I also realize that I will probably have scrapes on the front spoiler any way. In the end;, I like my cars to look great and be free of scratches but it is a car and will have some small bruises here and there. Nothing is perfect

I have the lifter. Has anyone noticed the negative effect it has on the suspension. I have smallish speed bumps on my parents' driveway. I don't need the lift for them. I just sail over at 15mph. If I deploy the lift and go over at the same speed I get a right old clonk. Sounds like the suspension is bottoming out. If I go over real slow it's fine.

Conclusion: lift is no good at speed. Just use it for driveway inclines and huge bumps that you have to slow right down for.

Starting to think I could have got away without it and swapped it for leather interior!

I assume the non GT3 cars scrape too? I read that even with the lift GT3 scrapes.

So, GT3 is 30MM lower than Carrera, and the lift lifts it 30mm.

Sounds like every car scrapes. Lift, or not.

Not really - I have a C2S loaner and it has 3000 miles no scrapes. Had a 2007 997.2 Turbo and only scrapped it when I was stoned and pulled up to far in a parking space that has those cement blocks at the end and scrapped it pretty good. I was mad at myself because the it was painted red at the factory and then you could see the black. After 2 weeks you forgot and I did not care any more. I knew for $200 I could replace it any time with the standard black one.
