Jump on the 2014 now. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

I'd wait for the 2015. Make sure no other gremlins arise in the meantime. And you get the exact options you want, not something close.

Also, as you were not the one who ordered the car, you would not get any monetary 'compensation' to offset the depreciation. Just a car that is one model year older. Along the same lines - does the extended warranty apply? Or is that only part of the compensation package offered to those who ordered the cars? (I'm sure no one really knows - although I imagine there will be many opinions offered.)

I'm not sure if the extended warranty applies. I was offered a car in a similar way earlier this year and the dealer actually wanted me to pay for the extension.

This is a question for PCNA. My understanding is that there will be NO comp in this situation, BUT the warranty follows the affected car.

But--as always, get this confirmed and in writing!

Just another perfect example of why Porsche almost encouraged people to turn back their cars!
If my memory serves me correct, Eduardo had some comments regarding this.

2. What other cars are currently in your stable? Do you currently have something that you find invigorating to drive? If so, definitely wait for the 2015 - being a year newer it will have higher resale or trade value when you step up to the 991 GT3RS.

My dealer just replied to me via email with the commission # (xxx176) and said estimate completed date 10/03/14, estimate exit German port - on vessel 10/17/14, estimated US port 11/07/14, estimated delivery to dealer 11/21/14.

Seem legit?

Also, I may be getting a run around on the 14 car. Salesman at this dealership (not where I have a car on order) said a guy is back out of his gt3 90% sure and now he just said "he will have a decision ASAP" blah blah blah.

As far as what else I have in my stable I had a 2014 GTR, 2010 Valentino Balboni Gallardo 6 speed and a 2013 X5. Sold the GTR and the Balboni then sold my business and the X5 went with it because the acquisition included all cars on the company books being financed. I had anticipated my GT3 arriving this Feb/Mar and sold everything to minimize the depreciation and be ready for the GT3.

I am driving a 2014 BMW 320i right now that my sister leased for when she comes in town from Texas. I am going nuts right now without a car (that's my relaxation and I don't drink and always had my cars and exercise as a vice) . Also have an M4 on order which will be here in a matter or days but I test drove one already and wasn't happy.

Yeah. That schedule sounds like it would be in line, timing wise. Also, all dates are Fridays, which is also consistent with how their system estimates dates. And shipping to East Coast makes sense. And 2 weeks from arrival to dealer also makes sense.

Same as mine, though I am a week behind you. I would lock in your options and get the 2015.

Hate to brake the news to you but 2014 and 2015 are the same cars. If 2014 has an issue, so will the 2015. If your production is in October, I doubt they will decide to change the hood to carbon fiber from now til october. Folks are still paying MSRP or more for the 2014 which indicates that the resale value is not affect.
Just think about this, are the 2015 cars being sold at 15K plus MSRP? no. There you have it.

That's a gross oversimplification. There are differences between the 2014 and 2015 runs.

The 2015 cars all start life at the factory with all the latest software, the latest engine, and the mesh screens in the front wheel liners. There are a few options available on 2015 that were not available on the 2014.

There is also a difference in software to allow the Sport Chrono + with Precision Track Application - and there may be a hardware difference as well. This means there could be wiring harness differences.

Given the dealer with the 2014 is acting a little squirrelly and you have a comission number for your 2015 build. I would submit my final options for the 2015 car and sit tight and wait for delivery.

Ryan, yes it is an over simplification but it tackles the core issues of
1. depreciation
2. Engine differences.

Im not aware of any mechanical differences and to my knowledge, it is the exact same car.

As for the do dads, yes you are correct. If you want the cool wart and its a must for you, by all means the 2015 is the way to go. As for the upgrades and the mesh... I thought the 2014's are getting that too?
