Yea, but you must have been the exception since everyone knows the 599 is the "educated" mans Ferrari !

i really wanted to buy C6 1.5 years ago. but the dealers are really catered to .... brawn than brain ppl. i cannot bear talking to them more than 2 min. if they hired someone who can communicate, i would have bought several now.
scud came into my crosshair. but i know nothing about italians. i am too old to learn new tricks. been on f chat for long time. but they are really uptight. i need to buy vaseline first. though some of my good friends are in ferrari's but they seem to be the exception.
bmw.. well when they call themself porsche or ferrari, i will reconsider.
so what's next? just walk on track instead of driving, until the issues on 991 are resolved... my allocation is really far away so not too worried yet.

Since this fiasco began I have been considering alternatives. But at the end of the day, I found the GT3 the only car that would serve the purpose I want it for. Reasonably priced, track worthy, reliable ( I know, I know) durable and comfortable for DD.
There really isn't anything out there will can match the 991GT3.

Link?
But Corvette more better with same discounts or "demo depreciation" soon!

I would like an explanation of "cachet" and "street panache" from the perspective of a Porsche owner? I am curious what sort of benefits and positive attributes can be associated with said Porsche ownership as it relates to "cachet" and "street panache?"

There was a video about the new Viper,I have to look for it... They were cruising down a very smooth highway and you could see the car was twitching and hopping like a rabbit in Normal mode. I can only imagine how it feels in Sport mode!
Aah...here it is :
Just look at their heads bouncing and listen to their voices,it's like they're riding on over inflated tires on a cobblestone road!

There are about 30 Vipers for sale in a 50 mile radius of my zip code.
I just my Dodge dealer and e-mail last week for a new Dodge dually and a Grand Cherokee Diesel, maybe he can throw in a Viper..

It's not about "benefits" per-se, just simple brand association. Porsches have a certain higher-end cachet that follows them (and the negative stereotypes with it as well admittedly) and some people enjoy having a mixture of that and then the dynamics a Porsche offers drive wise. Up until this GT3 debacle, the build quality has been pretty phenomenal as well (won't fall apart 6 months after purchase or look extra worn ala Corvette). And when one is spending 6 figures on a sports car, that bit of cachet is generally worth a little bit as well.
