I think they are pretty equal. Our old Cayenne was black and my Turbo is Basalt. Just choose your preference. Between the two, I liked the Basalt better.

It is my opinion that you don't see dust on Basalt nearly as much as you do on regular black...

Black is the easiest to maintain. No need to rub off track rubber smudges.

My prior cars that I drove on track were black. I thought I had a problem keeping them clean and I used to clean them A LOT. This time around, I bought white, thinking my dirty car problems are over. Maybe if I drive on the street only. On the track, you are absolutely right, track rubber smears are a nightmare, especially on the rear fender vinyl protectant, very stubborn. I gave up and am driving with stained rear fenders. Rarely noticed them on a black car. Not trying to hijack a thread by talking about white, just agreeing with you.

This is interesting insight, I never even thought about that. Making me feel better about my selection of black!

Yes, keep telling yourselves that!...ha ha. My black cars have been, by far the highest maintenance. White is the least.

I also had 2 black cars.. both metallic. Mini Astro Black and V8 M3 Jerez Black (has strong hints of deep blue in it on a sunny day...).

I had the M3 detailed by a super pro with a similar process than the following and yes it did look absolutely breathtaking immediately afterwards.. but on all other days it would be a massive pain to keep clean and swirl free. The pictures do a good job of showing how bad it can look if by mistake any dealership gets hold of the car to wash it after a service...

That paint correction is fascinating.. Amazing difference. How long does it last again, .. And will regular hand washing with a sponge ruin all that work quickly?

When people say that keeping a black car clean is a job.. I can see what they're talking ab bkw
