Take a look at the pictures below of a new GT3 with non-standard rims. Anyone have any ideas on what those are? I'm hopeful someone will eventually find a 19' that will fit, but not optimistic that it is those with the way they fill the wheel well.

Turbo S wheels indeed and they look awful on that car. Especially the rear wheels could use some decent spacers. But they are the only CL-wheels offered by Porsche as a winter setup here in Europe, so I guess that's why the owner has them. (It's mandatory in germany to have winter tyres).

I'm guessing that person got talked into using the same width front and rear for the snow tires, which is a bad idea IMHO. I know that big, wide tires can be bad in snow, but come on...that just looks plain heinous on that car.

Winter wheels narrower than summer...8.5 & 11 vs 9 & 12
same affliction for 997.2 RS winter wheels and tyre choice...with the Turbo S RS Spyder 19" wheel being only OEM option

I can tell that the person who chose that wheel & snow tire combo is not someone I'd be good friends with.
Interesting to see that Tire Rack is already selling a set of snow tires specific to the OEM rims. IMHO, that's the only way to go. Those Turbo S wheels look terrible, and this Michelin Pilot PA4 snow tire is so good. I have the same tire on my Audi RS4 w/ 255mm width and 19" rims and the car is unstoppable in the snow. You're likely to have clearance issues well before you have traction issues with this car in deep snow, so sticking w/ OEM rims and these Michelins is a no-brainer. I give major props to anyone daring to drive this car in the snow. Simply awesome.

Screw that. That's what my 4x4 is for. Leave the summers on and drive it in the winter when the weather breaks. Just saying.
No matter what anybody on this forum says, the GT3 is a supremely compromised car in the snow.

I drive my 911C2S year round, just with snow tires during the winter. If we get a blizzard with 8inches on the ground, then yes I have to switch to the SUV for one day, then back to the 911 once the main accumulation has been plowed off. The 911 can handle ice and a couple inches of snow. I know guys who have taken their 911C2 to ski resorts. A 911C4 would handle better in the snow, but the 911C2 and by extension the GT3, can be driven year round even in areas with snow and ice.

Wish I had pics, but some of the craziest Porsches I've seen were slightly lifted 911 turbos in at moritz during winter... Absolute monsters in the snow.
